It looks like it from the design of the airbox but I'm not 100. Think I'm leaning towards the Airaid tube with the stock box. I still haven't heard any real world reviews of feeling a increase in power or if it's just a expensive decorative piece lol. Edit-- http://afepower.com/shop/details_new.php?partno=54-74104&menu=gastruck&searchtype=family&brandID=56 This one from AFE is the only other well designed one I've found. They also make one for the 6.2 motor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My local 4WheelParts shop was offering the aFe for 249 last week. Might be a larger sale going on.

Are there any real-world benefits to a CAI or is it mostly cosmetic? When I was in there adding HIDs the filter box assembly snorkels out of the engine bay, so they kind of already are "cold-air" intakes. Unless the filters and pipes are narrower and more restrictive on the stock assembly, I can't imagine any gains other than cosmetic, but I'm new to pickups so maybe you guys have actual dyno runs etc to support them...

Very little in gains. The air aid tube with stock box and high flow filter is best value and delivers the mosy hp on a 2010ish truck

I don't know if that is going to be true on the 2014+ trucks Chris. Airaid showed some decent gains on the 5.3 and I can tell you from the seat of the pants that my 6.2 picked up some power as well. The truck was really choked down from the factory, plus the stock snorkel is in the fender and is rather small in open at maybe 3"x5" versus the multiple larger openings the Airaid is using.

I installed the airaid for the 5.3 on my 6.2 jus now. I turned the truck on and the engine light is on. Havent driven it yet. Anyone else have that issue? I also just installed HiDs but i wouldnt tjink that would cause an engine light to come on?

Is everything plugged in and secure with the new system?

Well now after i drove it around the block its still had the light on. Turned it on an drove out about an hour later and its been off since. Maybe it had to get use to extra air flow or something. Im not really sure but yes i had checked several times and everything was conmected fine

How do you like it? Worth the loot?

Hell yeah i love it. Sounds great and actually seems to give some power gains. It feels quicker. I have a 22" magnaflow like a few others got on here and like it. But you can hear the intake iver the exhaust which i like alot better personally

Looks like I'll have to order one.. The truck could use some extra go.

I agree with Russell. The Airaid does sound great, and I guarantee, you can feel it in the seat of the pants. How many more HP, I have no clue, but it feels like a lot! Yes, when you put your foot in it, the intake does overpower the sound of the exhaust. I also have the 22" Magnaflow catback duals. That huge snorkel on the Airaid is underestimated in reference to the amount of air it can suck in. I still give TJay full credit for talking me into it, or should I say, for taking the time to answer my numerous questions about it, over and over. I forgot to mention, the reason I had so many questions was due to the fact we were putting a system designed for the 5.3 on our 6.2. He said it would work and install easily. Man was he ever so right. Best kept secret in town, especially for 6.2 owners, because out options are pretty limited right now.

I should have mind by Thursday I'll post pics and leave feedback for the effects it has on the 5.3 motor.

Just installed my Airaid on my 5.3 and wow. It really woke the truck up and the sound is really impressive. Easily noticeable gains thru out the rpm range. Next is Corsa cat back and custom tune and dyno. Highly recommend this intake.

    • Length/amount of data capture will be important to consider, sifting through 5 minutes of a data log can be enormous when it is stored in milliseconds. Being able to find the 'event' let alone decipher it.   Presumably the driver would notice something and hit a button to capture the 'window' of data. That window has to be large enough for the operator to recognize the event and react accordingly.    The data has to be able to be retrieved easily.   The data has to be able to be understood. Which is the biggest challenge, dealer techs won't even know what most of it is and would likely not even look at it if an owner brought it to them. Meaning the owner, the least educated/qualified, trying to understand it.    How will the data be presented? Could specific PIDs be selected and a timelapse graph be watched? How will a specific value be noted as abnormal? Additionally, a good data logger would be able to 'learn' normal values for a specific vehicle and flag abnormalities automatically. It could in theory watch parameters degrade over time and suggest maintenance as needed. (If the MAF reading begins tapering off for a given set of other readings - MAP, throttle position, Ambient, etc.. a flag to check air filter.) With the amount of data available, a device (really the vehicle rather than an additional accessory) should be able to do more than issue a DTC. It should be able to run the full diagnostic suite automatically and present a solution rather than a code. (It's not the 90's anymore). The technology is available for the vehicle to not just say "P0087", it should know low fuel pressure, check other PIDs to narrow down the problem itself, and determine if it is a lift pump, high pressure pump, regulator, leak in the fuel line, clogged filter, etc. Even if it can't narrow it down, it should be able to guide the user to the likely problems.   This would be a major problem for dealer service departments, which are the manufacturers customers it is in their collective best interest to NOT have this available to the consumer.   Further, if the owner is going to be the primary consumer of the data, it's got to be at a consumer price point vs. dealer only specialty tool price.   This group is more 'involved' in their vehicle than general public/consumer and will have knowledge, experience, needs and desires that are quite different from the market at large.
    • I put the prof up. If you read what I posted. You can see that housing, cars and income are in line with the era we were talking about. It’s harder in some places easier in others. Let’s agree to disagree and put this back on track, OK? We both are pretty stubborn and hard headed. But I bring receipts. If you wish I will not respond to you in the future.
    • Lets see if I can sum up two pages of nothing useful.    You want to refute your own governments data of the "Purchasing Power" Index FOR THE ENTIRE USA and its territories replacing it with the experience of a single family and its business and label that reality?  Then pound on that for a week hoping it will find traction?    Stan, I've told you several times. I don't do irrational. There are more people in the USA than your family.    I'm pretty sure this tread is so blown up. I'll give you a few days or months if need be to post yourself silent then I'll see if I can find enough parts of the train to reassemble it.
