I recently got the Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite along with the Personal Caddy storage unit.  I chose this setup because I could go from my old tool box to this unit, move all my toolbox stuff to the Personal Caddy, and then access it through the front access without having to flip the whole thing up to get to my tools.  I can still fold the rear of the bed up to expose as much of the bed as I had available back when the toolbox was there, but now it stays dry and secure the rest of the time.  Happy customer so far!

I bought the personal caddy too but ended up removing it after a week or so, it's been sitting in my garage since, I can't seem to be able to sell it lol

I can promise you, had I been able to locate one for sale used, I'd have been all over it.  May I ask, why did you remove it?  For my purposes, it takes up about the same room as the previous aluminum toolbox did, though it has slightly less room and sits deeper.

I needed to load something in the bed that wouldn't fit if I hadn't removed it, and I just never got around to putting it back

Installed the Bak Revolver x4 on my Slivi today.  Seems like a really nice unit, installation was pretty simple.   My only complaint was one side of the cover was not packaged correctly and the left hand seal was slightly damaged (though nothing that affects function).

Installed the bedrug liner and Undercver Ultra Flex.  Don't mind the little one and the screw drivers in the tie down anchors, he turns my bed into a fort once I installed everything.  I ened up installing the LED light strip and tool bag, I can always pull them off if I don't like them...just wanted to try them out since it was included with the cover.

If you bought your Undercover Ultra Flex on 3-1-18 or after (through 3-31-18), there's a $75 rebate.

Just got a truck after two years without one.  Not sure how I lived with out for two years.  I want to get a cover for the bed.  Have ben looking and there are

so many on the market and so many manufactures.  After ruling out some of each and deciding about what I want, the price of the remaining on the list is

more than I'm willing to pay.  I'll try to describe what I'd like and the top contenders. Would love some alternatives to research.

1) I don't like soft covers because most all I've seen flop or wave at higher speeds and that would drive me nuts.

2) I like folding covers that the last position doesn't block the rear window, and are easy to remove when needed.

3) Must be good with water management.  Will carry luggage often.

Short List:

Extang Encore

Extang Solid Fold

Fold-a-Cover G4

So any recommendations of alternatives to these at a better price point is greatly appreciated.

Those diamondbacks have really gone up in price since I was looking a year ago

Just ordered a Bakflip MX4.  I'll post up again once it arrives and I get it installed.  I liked the MX4 because it's 4 section.  Makes it shorter and more open bed when all but the last section is open plus it doesn't block the cargo light when all the way open.  I also looked at the x4 revolver, but I was concerned with the longevity of the vinyl on it in the Colorado sun.  At least withe MX4, I can put wax on the powder coated panels to try and keep them from fading out.  Tonneau  cover world is having a sale so the price was better right now.

What’s up everyone just wanted to throw my .02 in. I was looking for a tonneau cover for weeks. Yeah, I’m picky... I was looking for a low profile roll up tonneau cover that wouldn’t break the bank but also had the look I was after. I finally found what I wanted it’s a ProZ lo roll cover which was reasonably priced at $249 and eventually got a 15% coupon for dropping it down to $212. Much to my surprise this thing was shipped out of a Truxedo wharehouse. The same truxedo low profile tonneau was nearly $75 more.

2 years later my Extang Solid Fold 2.0 that I bought for my 6.5 foot CC is still going strong.

Cons:

The pebbly finish has turned slightly duller as I don't do anything special to protect it in the hot So Cal sun.

Slight valleys have appeared under the front clamp locations. (They say don't over tighten to avoid this but tight enough to hold will cause it.)

Cover is not completely water tight as it gets small leaks during rare heavy downpours around the first fold area. Been this way from the start and I expect any folding cover will get leaks.

Pros:

Easy to remove and replace by one person.

When the cover is removed there are no rails in the way, you get full bed access.

Very light weight to open and close.

Overall I am pleased with the investment.

The quality of the cover predicts it should last a few more years.

Even with the extreme sun, heat and UV exposure we get here the rubber parts are still soft and pliable and all other components seem to be holding up well.

Coming from a solid fiberglass cover on my previous truck I am grateful not to have to ask for help to remove it,  or having to  keep the lid tilted up in the air when I needed to carry something taller than the bed sides.

Any other Tonneau covers you were considering? I am in southwest sun with occasional downpours. Looking for one that is easy to remove if i want to load my dirt bike but strong and secure if I am traveling and am storing stuff in the bed.

    • So I'm in the middle of a DOD AFM delete on my 6.2 L86 Sierra. I had a pick holding the tensioner but after I got the Cam phaser gear off I was cleaning off all the rtv and apparently I didn't have the pick seated far enough in. I bumped it and the tensioner sprang forward.  I think everything is good but I want a second opinion. The top of the tensioner is just a looped piece of plastic that rides in that channel right? There is no spring or anything is there? I got the gear and chain back on and it seems tight and everything looks right. I'm hoping nothing fell out.
    • My 2015 1500 LTZ Silverado suddenly won't go into 4 x 4 low. It will go into 4 x 4 high.
    • Yep, just a quick reference point.    My main point being I’d do a thousand other things before I’d pay 10k for a transmission.    Speaking in ignorance cause I don’t look at these trucks, what is it worth? 20k?
    • I think users are going to want to pick their monitored parameters, which parameters they want to see first.    It should probably start with baseline at a minimum and adjust to learned, but be able to overlay baseline for comparison.   A simple severity level would be able to determine what type of alerting is appropriate or user selectable.    Why not use the OBD port though?   I think a phone connection would be a good idea, push notifications type deal.   Number 1 issue is having data is useless if you don’t know what the data should be under normal conditions.
    • I thought I would use your thread and add to it as I just did my first longer drive with my truck in the last couple of days. I drove from the Grande Prairie area of Alberta down to Edmonton and most of where I drove in the city was the ring road so fairly free flowing but a bit of stop and go as well in the city. Stayed the night and returned home and not too many stops along the way each way but every restart and certainly every cold start sets it back for fuel mileage. Why I say that is I see some people will cherry pick a fuel mileage leg after the vehicle had been warmed up driveline wise before hand and its a forgiving ( easy rolling drive leg for example ) and call that their fuel mileage which can give a false perception of reality. I was not heavily loaded at all but never the less the flip bak cover, rubber bed mat, various tools etc and extra jerry cans of fuel all way up to a few hundred pounds of dead weight so its not an empty truck. The cold inflation tire pressures are set more near the freezing point so once they are warmed up driving I was showing 45 front and over 40 rear and realize high inflation pressures would help a little in fuel mileage but certainly not the ride on our crap sections of highway. The weather was good so was not raining as that can really drag mileage down, in fact I had a bit of a tail wind on average driving home. Most people on here would never have driven on that freeway to visualize it but its got a fair bit of rolling type of landscape with numerous river valleys. For the most part I had it on cruise set to 62 although kicking it off if I caught it in time before it started down shifting and self braking going down the grades. Most of the more substantial grades its shifting into 7th I believe as 8th just doesn't have it. Total distance round trip was 643 miles and my overall average and I did refuel three times in all, figured out to 17.65 miles per US gallon. My best fuel mileage section refuel within all of this figured out to 18.46 and these are all hand calculated figures. I find if anything that the trucks computer can be over optimistic, sometimes its pretty close but other times its stretching it. On paper persay in theory the truck would have just about made it on fumes for that whole drive without refueling once.    Which made me think of the topic thread of the wonder if these trucks could do 20 mpg and that is a good question, certainly would have to be on an easy going flat highway, no head wind, the right temperature, not packing around a bunch of dead weight and puttering along even slower than I was I would suspect and going steady and not stopping to smell the flowers or take a piss !. It probably is possible but not without effort to attain that with the wind resistance and weight of these trucks. Of course on my drive most people are passing me if they have the power as per loaded highway tractors, never mind a lot of speedy vehicles but the speed limit is 68 and most are at or well over that.
