LongrangeLauber Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Ordered my Airraid MIT as well as set up an appt to have my exhaust done. Just going with a muffler swap to a magnaflow to get a little more tone out of the truck. Not wanting anything to aggressive just a little rumble under full throttle. Now the agonizing wait!!!!Pics and sound clip of the exhaust when finished please, been thinking about doing this for a while. Local shop quoted me $220 for a muffler swap and cut out the resonator
mjdxtreme Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I was quoted 220 as well. I have not decided if I am going to take the rear resonator out or not. May have if install the muffler test it out and see how loud it is. If it is too quiet I will remove the rear resonator. I plan to keep the flapper valve in to keep the v4 drone out. I have read on here that that is the best way to go but all a matter of personal taste. I have a 2008 sierra denali with the 6.2 that was supercharged with flowmaster 50 series on that sounded good but could get a little annoying after a while so wanted to look at something a little quieter.

I had read several on the forum and watched a couple of YouTube videos showing many have just removed the muffler, left the resonator and added a section of 409 type pipe in place of the muffler. On the videos it sounded good and the cost for most was between $60 and $80. May not be the sound you are looking for but from what I heard quiet in normal driving but more aggressive when you would want it. Sent from my Note 5 using Tapatalk

Good idea. I don't think I'll keep the flapper on considering I tuned afm out. My intake makes the truck sound nasty as it is, I just want sound that will actually be heard on the street and not just in the cab haha
Abearclaw Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I'm not freaked out at all I just practice gun safety. My firearms are always in a holster or locked in a safe place unloaded. There's no in-between when it comes to firearms. Safety is the #1 concern 24/7. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk If you don't have one in the chamber what's the point. That's one more action one has to complete to possibly give the bad guy an advantage. Gotta keep it locked and loaded! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk So confused LOL anyway the important thing is we all have guns [emoji1303] they are very important tools and should be treated with care. cbrsilv15 Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 (edited) Just make sure to cut out your flapper. I left mine on per Borlas instructions and it was super quiet. Cut out the resonator and it was still quiet. Clamped my flapper valve open and it came to life. Wish I would have just cut it out to begin with. Edited September 21, 2016 by cbrsilv15

I was considering leaving the flapper in to make sure i do not get the chopper drone when afm kicks in.
Mdann22 Posted September 21, 2016 Posted September 21, 2016 I just put the Borla ATAK dual out the sides on my 2016 gmc Denali. It took me about 45 minutes to do and it's amazing. It has an awesome sound at idle and when you step on it it sounds like a corvette! I'm extremely impressed. There is no drone what so ever. Not like the flowmaster. I'd recommend Borla. I got it from autoanything.com it listed for 999 and they had a 20% coupon code 1

Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk I guess the new 20% off doesn't apply to it, kind of sucks. I would put it on my credit card tonight if I got the Borla for 20% off lol

Maybe it was a Labor Day coupon that applied 2

I don't have any drone. You can barely hear when it goes to v4 mode. No chopper like others say. Lol. I absolutely love it. Sounds perfect to me.
