Cleaned the truck up today and the wife's ride yesterday. It seems to be harder to find the time lately.

I agree with the finding time. My garage looks like a twister rolled through it. Working nights and driving an hour each way I get about an hour a day to spend with the wife.  I just can't get out there to clean it.

This wasn't done today, but back in the beginning of July, my brother removed the Silverado and LD lettering on my doors and tailgate. I kept the bowtie on the tailgate. It gives the truck a much cleaner look. Last Wednesday, I installed a new HVAC control unit because I had a few burnt out lights on the old one and on Friday, I installed the GM bed light kit. I'm happy with how that turned out. The lights match the Sylvania LED light bulb that I installed for the regular cargo box light.

Once you retire you will ask yourself, "How did I have time for a job?" All that stuff you are not doing now will create a work list about 20-30 years long. Your boss will change, and you will no longer get a steady paycheck and you pay for your part B,C and D insurance.  People you know will ask, "Can you do XYZ for me today as you're not working."  You will reintroduce yourself to your wife (awkward) and your kids will remind you of everything you missed while you worked. Then hand you the grandkids for the day with a packed guilt bag or perhaps never let you see them. Flip a coin.  Oh, it's a hoot!

Cleaned the interior and continue to work on rock chip repairs. Someday I'll get that tune up done.

About 40 years ago I nipped the honey due list in the bud. I worked lots of hours as it was. Between my hobby, cars and what I consider my responsibility the yard. Not much time was left for honey due. That just left emergency type issue during the weekend that couldn’t wait. Let the experts do their job I’ll do mine. My foot through the ceiling, oops cured the what’s that noise in the attic. The AC bird cadge was the culprit. The AC man fix it later. I wanted to get back to the car I was playing with. It amazing how a foot through the ceiling cures a lot of honey dues. My wife is now amazed how many things I can fix now I’m retired and have more time. It’s true though being retired takes reorganization. You end up working harder doing things you put off and adding things you have time to do. Then there’s that physical limitations you didn’t count on. I still wouldn’t trade it. I tell people retire as soon as you can, there’s nothing like it.

Well mine will probably only be 15 years long of a work list. I have no kids and no close friends, and I don't know any of my neighbors. I do hope to get a large shop one day so I can give new life to some 2 ton trucks.

Aside from taking care of my wife after her bad accident during covid times. I was temporarily retired all of 2020 and was loving it. Aside from the lack of income and such not going to work is a wonderful thing. I got caught up on honey dues and all the repairs on the model A. Garage was super clean and organized.

I have new plugs and wires for the 2014 All Terrain, and the Off-road headlight switch with the red back light. Now just have to find the time to get things done.

A Deer Jaywalked in front of me this morning on the way home from work🙄. Gave the truck a poorly done makeover. Back to driving the 2013.20230825_070904.thumb.jpg.6bca99acfa9379f95173cdd1902a5da3.jpg

Well that sucks. But you get to live and drive another day. Doesn't look good but I've seen worse. It's been about 23 years since I hit one although that almost changed earlier this year when I caught one with a glancing blow while driving my trike. Back road in NW Arkansas, 1 lane either way, coming around a blind sweeper to the right and a young one blasted across road from the brush and had no chance to react. It was raining and it slid across road in front of me. Luckily only damage was that I had a fog light lens get cracked. 1 second earlier and it would have been much worse.

23 years ago it was another back road but in Indiana while driving a 1999 Tahoe. He got me good. Bumper bent, grill was toast, hood bent in, left fender crushed, broken headlight and radiator support damaged. Still didn't kill him. He was flopping around on the road in the oncoming traffic lane. But the semi truck blasting along apparently didn't see him and ran over him with every wheel on left side of truck. That took care of his flopping....

I couldn't even imagine how bad it would be to hit a deer with a trike. This one got me because the on coming car that seen it coming from their side had their highbeams on blinding the hell out of me.

Few years ago I hit a downed but not dead dear like that. Guy hit one and ended up in the ditch with his high beams on and shinning a high intensity light into the oncoming traffic to warn us she was flailing around in the middle of the road.

I slowed to like 45 and saw her just as I passed him. It was sundown. On her knees I hit her just above mid chest with only enough time to square up the hit. Never made it to the brake. Launched my 2003 Honda Civic over her like a stadium bike on a ramp jumping trucks. :crackup:Landed and bounce a few times. I was about a mile from home and halfway there before I realized fully what had just happened. No steam so I kept going. Wife didn't even get out a scream. Lower bracket for the AC condenser was folded back a bit and other that deer guts all over the bottom not a scratch. 😱

Few days later I was telling that story in the local diner and a guy at the counter says, "So you were the guy I was behind". Said it looked like a truck hitting a giant water balloon of blood. And yet there was none top side on my car. Weird, right?

Took it to the shop to have the underside inspected and the alignment checks. Some grossed out guys hosed deer off the bottom all morning.  Other that the cleanup, nothing was needed. Didn't even straighten the bracket.

You have got to be KIDDING!
Didn't you just get that color-matched bumper? That is a huge bummer.
Like others have said though, it could always be worse. Glad you are safe

Yes I did just get that bumper. I'm going industrial with the next bumper and have it color matched as well. I will be getting these for replacement bumpers. I think they'll look great color matched. 31344.thumb.jpeg.b997808f00e94384f00c6020a3d6f838.jpeg31349.thumb.jpeg.56270bb1731b20f265d90e400744664f.jpeg

Thanks me too. Estimate was a little over 4k for repairs.  It's going in sometime in October.
