I think with that color debadged would look better, nice truck.

Looks good 10' away up close my OCD kicks in...

Nice truck, except for that plate.

It definitely wasn't that easy removing the one GMC badge from my tailgate. GM must use some serious tape these days..

I was bummed to read this, just noticed tonight that my tailgate GMC logo was applied crooked (truck is 4 days old). Bugs me, want to remove.

3M Adhesive remover.. It is easy just takes about 10-15 minutes.

Thank you - seems like this is the way to go.

On the doors there are two badges: "all terrain" and then stacked directly above is the "kodiak edition" badge - too much. Will buy some 3M Adhesive remover tomorrow.

I removed all of my tailgate badging not soon after I bought the truck but I got lazy and have not got to the sides yet. Plan on removing the silverado on the doors but on the fence about the Z71 sticker.

I washed, clayed, and waxed my black truck over the last few evenings and now I am on the fence about removing the "silverado" on the doors. I like the clean look but I also like the silver on the black background.

I de-badged and de-chromed the side of my truck. Hated the High Country badges and the 4x4 bedside decal. I also replaced the chrome side molding with 2.5" painted moldings. I left the tailgate badging intact except for the dealer logo and bowtie. I planned to replace the bowtie with the black one from the the GM accessory set, but decided that I liked it better without..

I had a hard time removing the adhesive residue. I with I had known about the 3m adhesive remover wheel when I did it.

I tried Dupont Prepsol solvent which turned everything into a gooey mess. I ended up doing the finger rub to work off the

residue, of course this led to several blisters.

Where did you get painted moldings? Thanks.

Mine are made by Dawn Enterprises (www.dawn-ent.com) I got them from a random seller on Ebay. I think I saved about $10-$20 off of MSRP and got free shipping. You provide them with the paint code and it takes about 2 weeks to receive them. My impression is that they are painted to order.

I really like them. I put them on my wife's 2010 Terrain which came without body side moldings. The color match to the Terrain Mocha Steel and my Deep Ocean Blue were both excellent.

You just made my day. I have chrome side moldings but have wanted color badly. That's the only place I want molding in order to prevent door dings.

Another tip and you have to be careful is to use a plastic razor blade to remove the adhesive. It works well on goey, solvent-softened adhesive. I do recommend swirl mark remover afterwards for any micromarring.

Take a look at the website. I just looked and there are a whole bunch of molding options. Color, chrome w color stripe, color w chrome stripe, color w different color stripe, engraved Silverado lettering.

Also noticed the website color selection does not include Deep Ocean Blue Metallic, but I supplied the Ebay seller with the paint code and they delivered the correct color.

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
