Yesterday heading to work early in the morning out of the blue, for the first time in 12k miles my screen/radio re-booted. Went black and radio cut out. Came back on about 15 seconds later. I noticed on the DIC that the oil life % was reset during that. Odometer was not. MPG's were not. JUST the oil % was reset to 100%. I was at 86% before.

Just got mine back for a similar issue, except it was all dead. I got radio playback, but no screen, no controls. Someone about an interface module that died. At least I got a new map and software update that also allows the "passenger" to input addresses while the vehicle is moving.

Saw this on TECHLINK. I have the bluetooth issue and my service manager is going to update mine later this week...

Blank Touch Screen after Start-up and in Reverse

January 23, 2014

The infotainment touch screen may be blank after start-up and in Reverse, a rearview camera message may be displayed, and there may be Bluetooth® and navigation system conditions on the following models equipped with radio-infotainment system RPOs IO4, IO5, IO6 or RAO (except with RPO UPF):

• 2014 Silverado 1500 built prior to October 1, 2013

• 2014 Sierra 1500 built prior to October 1, 2013

Some possible Bluetooth conditions include the screen not returning to the Home screen after ending a call, cannot call contact work/mobile number for more than one contact with the same name, and issues concerning speech recognition.

Some navigation conditions include no results found after performing an address search with an incomplete address, the selection of a Point of Interest address delivers a wrong destination position, and the map freezing when panning in the 10k zoom scale.

An updated software calibration has been released to address these conditions.

I love it when the solution to every quality problem with a substandard product is "software recalibration".

And when you learn that GM forgot to tell the dealers that they need more internet bandwidth to accommodate all of the data loads...dealers need more bandwidth than just to cover loan requests and inventory web pages now...

I'll take all the software updates as they do make a big difference. I got the latest one in November for the HD reception and MyLink has been much snappier.

It's even more irritating that they can't simply push updated over the air.

Agreed. Or at least let me do it myself through an SD card that I can download through a GM page.

Yes. Why do the vehicle manufactures keep infotainment updates so secretive? It just keeps making me want to change to a tablet based head unit install.

I just posted similar issue on another thread. Took a picture for proof and dealer did a software update. Might have fixed-too soon to be sure but now phone link and iPod malfunctioned.

My 2015 Silverado 2500 HD is at the dealership for second time in less than a week. It is less than 2 months old and has 1400 miles. The Mylink touch screen freezes up now and then and then it goes black. All radio controls are lost and the radio will not shut off even after the truck is turned off and and key removed. In addition the red light comes on by the Onstar buttons on my rear view mirror and the Onstar will not work either. They tried the software update last week and this morning on my way to work I noticed the red light on my mirror and that the time was no longer present on the touch screen. As i suspected again, i tried the controls and nothing worked and by the time I got to work 20 minutes later the screen was black again. After 3 hours at work with the radio blarring in the parking lot and me geting lots of grief from my Ford and Dodge friends:) I called the Onstar help line and they set me up with the service department at the dealership. They got me right in!!! After another 2 hours they sent me on my way with a Malibu rental...not exactly my 2500 HD but wheels none the less. They called this afternoon and said they think it is the radio and ordered a new one?? I have reservations about this being a radio issue alone as I see way too many issues on here and other forums related to the Mylink screen and I fear the radio is just a stab in the dark. Either way I will be without my truck most of this week they said!

Any other ideas and thoughts on this?? Thanks!!

I guess I need to have mine programmed too. Mine locked up yesterday and wouldn't play anything. None of the buttons worked. Just a dim version of whatever was on it prior to it quitting. In fact, the screen stayed dimly lit just like that even after I shut off the truck.

Eventually it started working again but I hate to take it up for something so minor in between oil changes. I noticed the third (top) brake light has never worked either recently. Just putting together a list of small things so they can be taken care of at once.

Has anyone else had the same issue as me with the radio freezing up, screen going black, OnStar disabled and unable to turn the radio off unless u disconnect the battery? Has it been corrected and what did they do? Again the software upgrade did not work in my case. The dealer told me today that it will be next week before I get the truck back assuming the new radio works? This is ridiculous!!!
