Heated/Cooled vs Heated-only Seats

Someone will figure out where we can add a resistor to the circuit to get a higher temp out of these seats.

I love the cooled seats. Black leather in the summer sucks. The heat works good enough to me. I don't like them to t hot, just not cold.

My wife's Traverse has cooled seats. I really like them on warm days. Especially when the sun comes in my window and starts to warm me up but everyone else is just fine, turn cool on for a few minutes and I am as happy as everyone else.

I have the heated and cooled seat option. The Heated seats work OK after you sit in them for a few minutes I can typically leave them on the high without getting uncomfortable when it is pretty cold out. They DO NOT get nearly as warm as my 2009 heated seat only truck did on the high setting no matter how long you leave these on. My 2009 would BURN UR ARSE LOL. These 2014 heated seats are absolutely worthless to heat up in remote start. My 2009 was toasty warm in remote start, felt dang good when you sit down like you were in the lap of luxury, that was real easy to get used to. These 2014's feel like you are sitting on a block of friggin ice for 2 to 3 minutes after you sit down. Anyone that had the earlier model heated seats is going to be very disappointed with these heated and cooled seats in the remote start heat mode ..............But to answer the OP's question darned if I know as I have the heated and cooled version and they suc. According to ole Craftco whom posted two steps back the heated only seats work great and apparently actually heat up in remote start just like the previous years????. Sure would like for someone to confirm that. I may have my seats traded out if that is true. I bet I can get that done for around 5k. So Craftco are you 100% on your info that the heated only seats work just as well as the previous generation?? Just want to make sure before I spend this CASH. Holler back to confirm cause from other posters info I may have to call BS on this one LOL.

I have the heated only seats. DO NOT repeat DO NOT waste your money by changing your seats out. They don't get toasty warm till you are sitting in them. Unless something has changed on the new build trucks. Mine was made in August of 13.

I agree that they do not heat up like my 2011 did, but they would get too hot on max and hard for me to adjust to "just right". The new truck seems to hit the mark on the temp of the seat. I can't say enough positives about the cooled seats. It was one of got to haves and I have no regrets. When the dog days of summer arrive I'm going to be wrapped in comfort.

same here. I love the cool seats, the heated seats take a few minutes longer than in my old '13 1LE Camaro but they work good enough for me

That is exactly what I have decided too the heated seats work good enough and the Cooled seats are KOOL You will notice that the only ones that diss them are the people that did not git them LOL. I feel lucky that the silly thing starts up and drives after reading through some of the complaints on this forum. It could always be worse and it is much better than a POKE in the EYE with a sharp STICK. C I am always looking for the positives............................................... Hmm 2015 Ford Atlas 30 mpg heated and cooled seats that heat up in remote start OOPS did I type that out loud?????????????????????

Yeah it would be cool if they would come on remote start but like you said... Could be worse. Cooled seats and the 6.2L are my most favorite things on my truck

Like I said I would have gotten the heated/cooled seats but I wanted the AT package. The heated seats work and heat up just fine, they get hot on the top setting.

You can set them to come on in remote start mode. However, according to the owners manual, the indicator lights do not come on, which is pretty smurfing stupid if you ask me.

They are supposed to, but the feature needs to be set to 'ON' in the dic menus.

Remote Start Heated and Cooled

Seats

During a remote start, the heated or

cooled seats can be turned on

automatically. When it is cold

outside, the heated seats turn on,

and when it is hot outside the

cooled seats turn on. The heated or

cooled seats are canceled when the

ignition is turned on. Press the

heated or cooled seat button to use

the heated or cooled seats after the

vehicle is started.

The heated or cooled seat indicator

lights do not turn on during a remote

start.

The temperature performance of an

unoccupied seat may be reduced.

This is normal.

The heated or cooled seats will not

turn on during a remote start unless

they are enabled in the vehicle

personalization menu. See Remote

Vehicle Start on page 2-6 and

Vehicle Personalization on

page 5-44.

    • That makes sense, and I think you are describing the real product problem. Capturing data is the easy part. If the owner or technician has to manually dig through five minutes of millisecond-level logs, the product has already failed. The device would be at the ECM harness, not at the OBD port, so I agree that data retrieval and event marking need to be thought through carefully. The way I am thinking about the architecture is: The recorder itself should not depend on a phone, app, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or cloud connection to capture the event. It should always keep a local rolling buffer and lock the event locally. A button, phone app, or small cabin device would only act as an event marker. If the driver feels a stumble and presses the button 10–30 seconds later, the pre-buffer has to already contain the useful data. For data retrieval, the practical options would be a sealed service USB lead, Wi-Fi download, or a phone/cabin companion device. I would not expect the owner to remove the ECM-side module or work with raw files directly. The cloud or AI side would be for interpretation, not for capturing the event. The truck may have no connection when the issue happens, so the evidence has to be saved locally first. After that, cloud processing could help decode the data, compare it against baselines, and generate a readable report. For the first version, I would keep the automatic triggers conservative and objective: driver event marker bus-off error passive voltage drop / brownout device reset FIFO or queue overflow a normally periodic message disappearing side-to-side communication mismatch, if the topology supports that For “learning normal,” I agree with your point, but I would not want to overclaim it as automatic root-cause diagnosis at first. A realistic first step would be learned baseline comparison for that specific vehicle and operating condition. For example, a value would only be compared against similar conditions: RPM range load / MAP throttle position gear / vehicle speed coolant and oil temperature battery voltage AFM/DFM state, if decoded and validated Then the report could flag things like: this periodic message disappeared compared with its normal timing this value deviated from this vehicle’s normal range under similar conditions the same abnormal pattern repeated after the same type of event the anomaly occurred together with voltage, oil-pressure, misfire, or communication changes But I would still call that “abnormal pattern detected,” not “replace this part,” unless there is enough validated repair data behind it. So the intended product would not be “here is a huge log.” It would need to be an event package: what triggered the capture how much pre/post data was preserved what changed before and after the event whether the device itself reset, overflowed, or saw a bus error selected graphs around the event raw data only as supporting evidence From your perspective, what would make this kind of report useful instead of just another datalog? For example: What are the top 5 parameters or events you would want highlighted first? Would you trust a learned baseline for that specific vehicle, or would you prefer fixed thresholds? How much false-positive flagging would be acceptable before you stopped looking at the reports? What would a one-page report need to show for an independent shop to take it seriously? For misfire, AFM/DFM, oil pressure, or U-code complaints, what would you want the tool to flag automatically?
