Sierra Temp Knob Ring Lights

I have a dealer loaner and just noticed the temperature rings do light up opposed to my SLT. This is a base model truck, i think as base as it gets and they light up. The rings look identical with only the knobs being different. Built date on this is 07/13.

I think this depends on the AC type. I think only the rings on the single zone AC light up, while the dual zone AC module has the chrome rings that don't light up.

Exactly how mine looks. SLT here. I only see chrome trim around backside of hvac knobs on mine.

Is the knob really that hard to find in the dark that it needs a lighted ring around it?

There's even a little led in the overhead console that lights up just enough to see that stuff. At least there is on mine.

lol i just posted to show the differences and was wondering why they would light up in some models and not in others.
