So after hours of going through all the wheel and tire size posts i am still needing some help, and more confused than ever! I know topic has been beat to death, i just still don't find a definite answer, and would like some input before i pull the trigger on $1,300-$1,600 in tires! So here's what i got, I have a 2016 1500 Denali with a 2.5" front suspension maxx leveling kit with the rear 1.5" blocks with the black stamped steel uca''s and factory mud flaps. Living in northern N.Y. i wanted something more aggressive for winter then the stock Goodyear tire that were 275-55-20 which is 31.4" x 10.8". Having great success with the Cooper ATW's before on other trucks i wanted these tires, but to get more tread depth and a 10 ply tire for towing enclosed trailer i had to go with a different size. The closest to stock i could get was a 265-60-20 which is 32.5" X 10.4", this equals 1.1" taller and 0.4" wider. Having seen guys on here running bigger tires that that on stock 20" wheels and said they had no rub i thought i would be fine with this size. Mine rub the uca's pretty good at full lock and had to zip tie the liners back. Some guys on here say they have no rub with 285-75-18 which are 34.8" X 11.2" on sierras with same leveling kit with no rub on uca's? I believe the wheels are same offset which is +27MM, about 1".

With all that said, i can stand the rubbing since it only at full lock, just confused why a tire that is .4" narrower is rubbing with uca's, the stock tires never did, i get that they are taller and that was solved with the zip tying the liner back.

And the real hurdle that i need info on is that i have a new set of RBP 94R 20X9 wheels with 0 offset to go on in spring which i bought online from a off road truck shop in California who said that they run that wheel combo all the time on leveled GMC 1500"s with 295-55-20 and 295-60-20 Nittos with no rub at all. The wheel will be pushed about 1" out due to offset but the 295-60-20 is about 1.2" wider and 1.4" taller and 295-55-20 is about 1" wider than i got now, so if the offset cancels out the 1" i will still be rubbing just the same as i am now! I was looking also at 285-65-20 on leveled 1500"s those are taller yet, but a little narrower, but i would believe those would not fit at all since they are 34.5" high! All these numbers make my head spin!!

I guess it boils down to how much rub i can live with. Any info on any of your wheel tire combo that is close to this would help me! Thanks

Every tire is different unfortunately. I ran into similar issues running Duratracs. Everything I read said 275/60R20 don't rub but my Duratracs rub the carpet... Tread pattern/size makes a difference.

Remember Back Spacing plays into your offset #'s also...

Thanks for the pics! Love that look, awesome looking truck, that's exactly what i am going for! Never really thought about 305's, can't believe they don't rub, i am glad! I love it, and also like the bfg's. Thanks for the info!

I wanted a 295/55/20 but they told me I would have to trim for them not to rub since I don't have a leveling kit or lift yet. I guess I'll just run through these till I need to replace and get the 295s or even 305s. :)

After going through several posts on here and researching quite a bit (tire size, tire weights & tire dimensions, level kits, etc.) here is my setup. I was undecided between 305/55 vs 33x12.5 (bit more height vs bit more width in relation to amount of rubbing). I wanted to go aggressive as possible without losing too much comfort on ride. Mud terrains look great however eventually were not an option considering this is my daily and I never go off road. More then happy with how it looks. Love these tires + rims combo. Interestingly enough I wanted to go 20x9 +1 offset however the place I got my set from said Fuel was on backorder on that size and this rim color until February. I'm glad I went with the 20x10 since it gave me the lip on the rims and looks more aggressive. Pretty good rub initially however I trimmed the plastic piece at bottom back of front fenders along with a little tapping of the metal underneath the felt. Barely rubs at full lock in reverse. Rubs so little that once tires wear down a bit it no longer will. Hope this helps someone out there.

Im trying to decide between 2 sets of rims for my truck. The first one is the Method NV and the second is the Pro Comp Series 40.

325/60/18 rims Healos 18/10/12 offset

Aw man. I have exact same wheels sitting in the bed of my truck to be installed tomorrow. I loved the old school look of that wheel. Stared at every design out there and got that one.

 

How do you like them?

If you were local, it'd be a done deal. Pretty much what is holding me back is that I don't want to have 2 sets of wheels laying around! Did that way too much with the G8.

If only y'all had something setup prior to Christmas! I was just up in Rochester, visiting family for the week. I would have definitely been willing to haul them back down to him (it'd be nice if the excess gas from Rochester/Blaine and OKC/Texas was covered though, as I would have done the Rochester/OKC part with/without wheels as I gotta get home somehow) lol

    • Have considered installing a DC to DC charger in your camper to replace your isolator?  
    • Common failure.  You need to replace the fuel door housing.   The painted cover transfers over to the new housing.  To remove the old one there is 4 spots where you poke the plastic to release it.  
    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?
