Did GM send anyone else a trailer brake wiring harness in the mail?

Got this randomly yesterday. I've never once mentioned anything about towing our a wiring harness to anyone at GM or my dealer...

All trucks that are equipped for it, are supposed to have that harness in it (unless it has the factory brake controller). Every GM truck I've purchased has had that harness. They must have forgotten to put them in at the factory and are making it right.

A friend of mine just bought a 2014 Sierra Z71 and that harness was given to him by the dealer at the time of sale. His does not have the factory brake controller in the dash (obviously).

So is this for trucks that were not equipped with the factory brake controller? So this will allow an aftermarket brake controller to be hooked up?

Yep, first I got a letter about a month ago saying it was supposed to be included and to bring that letter to my dealership and they would give me one... Did that and they gave me one... Then about 2 weeks later I had another one sent to me in the mail, so now I have 2 of them.. Going to drop the second off back to the dealership the next time I'm in.

Another "Ditto". Got mine last week. Now the million dollar question is, whats a good, affordable (cheap/ frugal) brake controller that I can remove easily? I would only use it once a year tops, can't see leaving it mounted all the time. Is there a good spot to mount it at the bottom of the dash?
