Has never happened to me regardless of where I have filled up though I usually fill up at BJ's.

Mine doesn't, but as said if you pull the nozzle out about an inch or so it will help. It is the back pressure that trips the pump off. My wife has an Lincoln MKX with the capless system, her stops 4 gallons short at every fill up.

I do now and then. Ive found leaving the pump out about 1/4 of the way solves the problem for me.

+2, (have to play with it to find the sweet spot) thought I was the only one having this problem or thought it was a new car thing (first new vehicle I have owned) I only fill up about once a month so not a huge problem for me, but it would annoy me if I had to fill up often.

I fill up every 2 days. 50/50 chance it clicks immediately. Pisses me off. If I fill it up slowly then I'm good. 14 silverado 4x4 Max tow LTZ

My 2007 did it CONSTANTLY and it drove me up a f*****g wall. For 7 years!!!! I can happily say that my 2014 has had zero issues with this.

I think it's partially because of the vent location in the fuel tank. It should probably be higher up (aft end of the tank). There is a kit for diesels to move the vent to the highest point which supposedly adds a little more fuel and allows for a faster fill.

I think the other reason is due to the fuel. E-85 doesn't foam and I fill up just fine without lots of clicks.

yup my 07 and 11 did it and the 2014 does it, I find if I put the gas nozzle on the slowest setting for filling, pull the nozzle out part way it seems to fill ok, with some pumps they are so sensitive to and back flow it will still trip the shut off so I angle the nozzle to the side and use the gas cap to hold it at that angle and it will fill OK, pain though on lowest setting on nozzle to fill up 25 gals of fuel I can wash every window in the truck and still have time to stand there watching the fuel amount on the gas pump

I had this happen a few weeks ago at a station, and I was getting so pissed off. But I looked around and ever single person who was filling there tank at the gas station was having the same exact issue. So sometimes its gotta be the pumps fault.

I had hold the gas handle up instead of letting it just hang on the opening it will pump without cutting off.

I had this issue happen to me on a 2007 2500HD. There is some type of evaporitive canister under the truck that becomes plugged and causes this issue, From what I understand it can even cause the fuel tank to collapse. The filling issue was a key indicator that there was a problem as well as a sucking sound when you removed the filler cap. Running a fleet of GM trucks we did have 2 trucks with collapsed fuel tanks. I think they ended up relocating the vent prevent this. This is what I was told by the dealer.
