Rancho or Bilstein

With the rancho coil over 2 inch lift do the ball joints stay within limits I talked to rancho tech about this and they said the ball joints would be in limits. I looked for the rear shocks Rs9000xl adjustable on ranchos site and the part # was RS999297 but rancho tech said I need RS999198. Just wondering what part # have been used.

RS 999297 is for 6" lift. U want RS999198 for level /quicklift.

Hey GMC, When I order the rancho coilovers RS999901 going to do install myself. Should be easy if you have done this kind of work before. My only question would be do you have to knock the upper ball joint loose and tire rod end aloose. I don't like having to do that especially on aluminum control arms. Never dealt with nothing but cast iron. Trying to find an install video on the net but haven't yet atleast not for 2014 gmc or chevy. Looked for install instruction on ranchos site but no luck. Maybe someone who has installed themselves will help us out.

No, you don't have to remove the ball joint, it's really easy to swap these out if you have the tools. Here are the steps.

-jack the truck up and put on a stand

-remove the wheel

-loosen the stabilizer bar bolt

-remove upper strut nuts, 3

-remove lower strut bolts, 2

-take out the strut and replace with the new one and put bolts/nuts back on

-put stabilizer bar bolt back in

-put wheel back on

-lower truck

-have 6 beers

-repeat on other side

-have 12 beers because you are done :)

Little update, I have all 4 ranchos installed.

It's a large Improvenent over the level kit alone.

One thing I noticed was my rear end jumped and banged hard with the extra 1 inch block before. The new rancho rears solved the issue. I keep them all on the softest ride setting ( cranked left )

And they are not quite as good as stock. But for 2 inches of lift it is a much better option. The level was a terrible ride. I recommend them.

My next plan is 3 inch body lift and 35s

Thanks pt1911 about like I thought it should be. Do you like the ride better than the stock ranchos and what ride settings do you like the best. I like a soft ride the stock ranchos are to stiff in the front for me.

bubaloo1983 Do the rancho coil overs not ride any better that than the stock ranchos

AJUSA.COM has all 4 Bilstein shocks for 335.04. Just found them. Think that is the cheapest and free shipping.

That's cheap! I spent 413$ shipping included at suspensionconnection. Get home the two front 5100 struts are in, the rear shocks aren't anywhere to be found apparently. I emailed them.

Yeah mine rides a lot better than stock and that is also with load range E tires at 50 psi. I'm running them on setting 5 or 6......can't remember.

Torsion bar bolt? What are you talkin about? These trucks don't have torsion bars.
