MPG dropping in wnter

I normally get 17-18 MPG (2014 5.3) but now in the winter I'm getting 13-14 MPG. Typical?

Winter grade fuel is typically lower quality which is why it's cheaper. I'm averaging 14.5 or so

Yea, I've dropped form 16-17 around town to 13-14 around town. Its been in the single digits for the past several weeks, with some days below zero. I attribute the drop in mileage to the winter blend gas, and the fact that I have been using remote start to idle up to 15-20 minutes to warm up on those below zero days.

Winter Gas.. I filled my truck up at my friends farm after I drove for a trip and his farm tanks still had summer gas.

 

My millage went right back up to 17-18 average.

 

Then right back down when I put winter gas back in.

 

It's not the temp it's how bad these engines adjust for this winter blend gas.

Well this is my first winter with my GMC, it did drop almost 3mpg which is alot more than I typically see with other cars/trucks I've owned which usually only dropped 1 or 2mpg.

Mine goes from 21-22+ MPG overall in summer to 18-19+ overall in winter on winter blend gas. I can still get 23-24 MPG on the highway @ 55 MPH after the engine and tranny are warmed up. Most of my drop in MPG's is from remote starts, and getting the tranny up to temp so the truck will utilize V4. Depending on ambient temp, the truck may need to travel up to 8-10 miles before the tranny reaches 94º, or 113º when extremely cold. Until that happens, you are strictly in V8.

 

My truck has averaged over 21 MPG for the last 4,900 or so miles. It's been dropping a tenth or so every few days since the really cold weather is here. This is on 87 octane.

Crappy winter blend fuel. I always drop about 10% in the winter.
