I got my 2014 Silverado All Star back on June 1, and today noticed that the chrome bumper right near the fog light is starting to rust! It's only been 8 months and 10k miles. Picture attached is not my truck but same look. Is this common, covered by warranty or wtf?

Take it to your dealer for warranty coverage

Every brand of vehicle I have ever known, the chrome does show small rust spots. 99.9% of the time a little chrome polish followed by a sealer or wax will take care of it.

If it was my truck I would take care of it on my own. Cheaper & easier than trying to convince a dealer to either do the same thing or replace it.

Any chance it's just a road booger which has stuck to the bumper, and began to rust instead of the bumper itself?

Yeah once I got outside and it was above 0 degrees, with a little elbow grease it was a road booger that was rusting, all good

mine had a couple rust specs on the front bumper probably when i picked it up but just didnt notice for about a week.

i use neverdull and polished it off.

i just noticed another spec of rust on it this week so im going to clean that off too probably tomorrow, if you keep on top of it it should be find but the metal is porous and stones and salt hitting it doesnt help so it will always be prone to rust.

keep a good coating of wax on it and it should be ok.

Thanks to the EPA regulations, the chroming process used today is much inferior to that used in the past. Which means that the chromed parts today will corrode a lot quicker.

If the rust hasn't eaten thru the chrome just clean it with chrome cleaner , my truck had a little dent in the rear bumper when I bought it and the dealer changed the whole bumper out with a new one
