If I add a bully dog tuner to my 2015 GMC Sierra Deanli 6.2 L when it gets released will it void my warranty?

i got the extended warranty on the truck and i don't wanna screw that up?

if i were to unplug it before i take it to the dealership will they be able to tell i had one in?

any help will work thanks

There are many many posts regarding this very topic here on this forum.

The answer is debatable, but my opinion is that if the engine experiences any problems that can be even remotely attributable to the tuning, the issue will not be covered.

Correct, and there is a chance that GM can still see the bully dog even though they plug into the ALDL connector as it triggers an error on the CANBUS system at times. If you are worried about the warranty stay away from tuning. I took the chance and tuned mine, but I didn't do anything on the engine side. Plus I have a good relationship with my dealer so I will tune mine back to stock if I had to bring it in to the dealer for anything major.

In my humble opinion I think you would have more of a problem with a custom tune than a can tune. The reason I say that is can is generic, well known and would join the fight. Some of the custom tuners couldn't do that. My Hypertech tune for instance says a gain of 15 HP on a 93 tune I get more than that running E85, it would be hard to make a case that damage my engine. The fixes I wanted where no V4, firmer shifts, better response, a little higher top speed. All that was accomplished.

What settings are you running to get better response on your Hypertech? I just picked up a Max Energy yesterday and have only up'ed the firmness to 50%, disabled AFM, and adjusted for my 35's.

I didn't want to mess with my shift points without hearing what other people have done, problem is no one really talks about it on the forums, at least that I have seen.

Up 500 on the rpm, 400 on shift points. 135 on max speed, turned off V4, which is my only bitch on the truck. As much as I tried I can't handle the V4- vibration . And I run E 85

Thanks for the reply!! What's your mileage like on E85? It always seems like I burn through it faster when I use it, at least in my Mercedes.

Two to five miles less per gallon depending on my right foot. I get it for 1.35 per gallon to 1.65 per gallon. But at 25 more HP I use when I'm in town, on a trip I run 89-93 gas that's always going to be much higher than E85. I run my TM at 50 per cent also

The tuner will void powertrain warranty.

I went through this with a Corvette with 1300 miles.

They can tell if tuned.

The way they found mine was; since 2010 all updates/flash from the GM server are recorded by VIN/date/ip address. If they get a PCM that has been flashed more times than their software/update has been downloaded they look further. When they looked further into my PCM they discovered kernels or something out of place. Robert, the engineer at the hearing even told me what Tuner I used and he was right.

Mine had a legitimate and frequent occuring defect with Corvettes and after going before an arbitrator and proving numerous other owners had this issue, they sided with me(14 month process). But my powertrain warranty was voided.

You cannot fool the computer anymore.

Did you flash the PCM back prior bringing the car in?

Yes flashed it back to stock so I would not lose my tune.

The engineer that was at my hearing was awesome, he had tables of info showing subtle changes that do not revert back to stock when tune is removed. They had me dead to right.

Luckily my issue was common.

No more tunes for me ever.

My understanding on these new systems is GM has a hidden firewall that the tuner cant change back, they will see the affects of it being tuned, dealer friend mentioned this to me.
