Run E85 for 2-3 more tanks, then go back to E10. See if you still like E85.

I'll try it a few more times. seems the truck loves running on this stuff. I'm about a half a tank in and it's running good and I gave noticed the different engine sound u mentioned in the post above

After a couple tanks, its more e85 content then your first tank of e85 since it still has regular e10 in it left over, and after running a couple tanks you'll be use to that feeling so if u swap to regular 87 or 89 then you'll notice how just the fuel change makes a decent difference, i imagine summer time weather will be even more drastic cuz e85 has a cooling effect as well like methonol injection. ..from what I've read at least

87 is 2.09 and e85 is 1.55. Even if e85 was the same price I'd run it. The truck seems to run so much better with e85. I just did a trip from Austin to new Orleans and back and averaged 16.5mpg and hit up to 19mpg during some stretches of highway. That was with a kayak on my bed rack creating extra drag and loaded down with camping/fishing gear and 20 extra gallons of fuel to get me between e85 stations.

 

On 87 my truck drops out of v4 mode with the slightest bump of the throttle. It's also not as responsive.

 

I don't know what the people at Valero are smoking but their e85 prices are stupid. Usually 10cents cheaper than 87. I never buy it from them.

Have not tried e85 yet but I guess I will after reading this. where I am the 87 and e85 are 2.09. My question is how low should my fuel level be to start using?

If you want the max effect, wait until the fuel level is as low as you're comfortable with. Otherwise, it doesn't matter, the PCM calibration will adjust accordingly almost right away.

I've become a big fan of E85 since getting my truck. It feels like it drives so well using it. I like the idea of it burning cleaner and cooler, producing more power, and that it's from the good ole USA (minus the politics behind it).

It's not that easy. I believe there's also a different fuel pump and injectors and also a sensor to detect E85.

Im tuned for E85 and I love the extra power. I don't tow anything but E85+plus transmission tune = Fun. I do get about 1.5mpg worse than I do when I run 93. but WHO CARES! :-)
