My take on the Baltimore police brutality.

I agree that the police officers who have murdered Freddie Gray in custody was completely unjustified and even a veteran law enforcement officer would say so too, but looting fellow Baltimore residents, burning down businesses is NOT the answer. Yes, you have a right to protest, no, you don't have the right to injure, kill, and burn down things that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the problem. I say if you want to solve the problem, attack the source and not the irrelevant things.

This one could get out of control....

Hard to say anything being unjustified when the whole story is not out there yet, unless you were there ;). Only speculation as details released so far are sketchy at best, for whatever reason.

But no matter what the reason, the rioting and looting is completely unjustified. Those buildings and store owners didnt do anything wrong. Couldnt agree with you more on that front!

My thoughts....perhaps the problem is with society looking for reasons to do shit like this.

Its unfortunate that when police officers are killed (on a daily basis in North America by the way, black and white), nobody gives a damn except the grieving family looking for what justifies a dead father/mother/son/daughter etc that was just doing his or her job. And by the way, black people kill white police officers, and nobody cares. White guys kill black officers, and still nobody riots. Especially the family of the dead police officer.

Only in America, police officers are killed more each year than in any well-developed nation in one century. Sad, but true.

Why destroy your neighborhood? Even a dog is smart enough that he won't crap where sleeps.

Supposedly this guy had back surgery a few days prior to this... Wonder if that factored in.

Here is the thing; they all want "Justice". The southern cop who shot the black guy in the back a few weeks ago was arrested within 24hrs and charged with murder. These cops were involved and neglected something...with that said, the report isn't due to be released until Friday. So, what is BPD to do, let these cops who may be involved stay working everyday during the riots or place them on leave and remove them from any potentially bad situation until a JUST decision can be made either policy wise and/or criminally wise.

You can't take "JUSTICE" into your own hands and expect it to go the way YOU planned..that isn't how the world works.

I'm just glad the business owners were nice enough to give all these protestors vacation time to loot and be criminals.

I don't know the circumstances surrounding the death of that person so I am limited to what I can say.

I still do not think it is ok to destroy your own town. I don't think it is the peaceful protesters, but the gang bangers and those looking for an opportunity that the police are busy handling one situation and won't be able to arrest them for what they do.

It is a shame this happened.

I liked the part where the parent saw her son on TV throwing rocks at police and came down and slapped him several times ( in front of TV cameras) and told him to get home.

More parents need to keep an eye on their children and family members when protests are going on.

Don't overlook the role of the news media in this. The print, internet and broadcast services choose what and how they want to report. They gloss over significant facts, ignore others and outright deceive the public by telling us what they think will produce the most shocking and inflammatory story. Truth often gets lost in the telling. Killing of police gets told in a different way than killing of the public, and the media steers it the direction they desire to produce a story. The result is that people who believe the media slant react in a certain fashion, often violently. We (the general public) may never know all the details and that makes it hard to come to a reasonable conclusion concerning the guilt (or otherwise) of the involved parties. Even when "they" are purporting to be completely transparent, critical details are left out. And people hear what they want to hear, and act accordingly.

The media has been huge in fanning the flames of racial tension ever since Trevyon Martin was shot. Granted George Zimmerman turned out to be kind of an idiot but the news media intentionally used a photo of Martin as a 12 y/o instead of a more current photo to play down any notion he could've been a threat. Stuff like that every time since. Whatever. Crap like this is why I won't live in the city.

This is the exact problem our country has. You have absolutely no facts about this incident, it's an ongoing investigation. You still jump to conclusions accusing the police officers as being guilty of murder. That type of attitude is a perfect example of what is wrong with our society and it's only getting worse.

As of this moment, there are no members of the public that have any facts about this incident. No investigation findings, no toxicology results, no eye witness statements. Jumping to conclusions and rushing judgement is a huge problem and it's part of why Baltimore is out of control.

It is now known that there was in fact another person in custody while Gray was fatally injured. The States Attorney now has the investigation report and the facts. The truth will come out.

Most of what a person reads on forums is "somebodys take on something", and just like the title of this thread, this is tonyghkbve's take on Baltimore police brutality. This is true to forums, don't see anything wrong or right with that. BTW, I have been in the federal criminal justice system for 35 years.

The protesting, including looting has brought attention to the issue. It (the looting) ain't right, but it is somewhat effective. Something stinks here and I'm guessing they smell it too.

Yeah then add the professional agitators & the media fanning the flames, things get out of control. There is nothing a police officer can do & be correct.

On a side note, I heard a national politician who is running for President pushing body cameras on all officers to protect "the people".

Fine, then she along with all the other elected officials should wear one as well. They are doing far more harm to "the people" than the Police.
