Best exhaust on 5.3

What would be the best muffler to put on my 2015 5.3? I had a 2013 with a Flowmaster 50 series delta flow exiting out the back. Sounded great, but I had a good bit of "drone" on the inside. I'm looking for something about the same outside volume but with less inside niose. Any suggestions? I'm leaning towards a turbo muffler...

I've been wondering the same thing, I have a 2015 LT CC and want to put a performance exhaust on it.. On another forum I seen some talk of there being problems when the V4 mode would kick in. They were saying it had a helicopter kind of sound. So that kind of scared me, but I still want exhaust!!!!!! What to buy? I was looking at some Borlas but don't want to spend the money unless it will be right.

On the other forum people were disabling the V4 mode I don't think that's a good solution to the issue either. I want an exhaust that works with it.

I also wonder will it effect the warranty if we put exhaust on?

I'm afraid this is my first one, so not sure. What year was your last one? I don't know how long v4's been around. What exhaust system did you use?

I really shouldn't worry lol I don't think I'm that picky when it comes to sound. Plus the majority of the time the truck will be pushing the v8 power through the system.

I went with the Borla S-type exhaust and I'm very happy with it. The helicopter sound you're talking about isn't nearly as bad as you're thinking. When V4 kicks in, you can tell, but by no means should that be a reason shy away from the killer sound from the V8. Go for the whole system, after all, it's got a Million Mile Warranty!

Worse case scenario the V4 blackhawk helicopter chasing you sound will force you to tune that new DI motor. This would be terrible - Said nobody.... Ever.

If you're looking at the kits, GM Borla is a real nice kit too. No drone, no helicopter sound. I had the Corsa Sport, but it was a little too loud for me and the V4 sound really demands tuning out the V4 (AFM/DOD).

This is with V4 tuned out I assume?

Nope. I have AFM turned on at the moment. To help with mileage. It doesn't sound that bad in V4 mode. I've gotten used to it.

That is interesting, how much better is you mpg with AFM turned back on. 1 mpg or better? I've always had an exhaust on everything I own and it is killing me not to do something to my 2014. Tried the dynomax VT but just didn't sound very good and the truck actually shook with V4 and the throttle barely pressed plus helicopter sound. I am thinking of breaking down and going with a flowmaster 50 series but that Corsa sounds really good.

It's a little better. Probaby 1 to 1.5 mpg better. Which doesn't sound like a lot. But I drive a lot for my job. So 1 to 1.5 over the course of a few months ends up saving some money. Not much but some.

I really like my Corsa Sport. The V4 mode is honestly not that bad. When I first got the corsa, the muffler was a "pre-production" model that was really loud and sounded terrible in V4 mode, and even droned bad on the highway. I called up Corsa and asked them what the deal was. They had my check the serial number. And turns out it was a "pre-production" model of the muffler that somehow made it into circulation. So they sent me the final production model and I reinstalled it. It sounded 100x better. No more drone, no more annoying V4. I mean you can still notice when it goes to V4, but its not nearly as bad as it was before.

I have the Corsa Sport on my '14 W/T and Borla duel out the back on my '15 Sierra. I prefer the sound and look of the Borla setup. Corsa puts me in mind of the old glass packs. The Borla, though not quite as loud, has a lower rumble at idle. Both sound great in the cab on hard acceleration.
