So I currently have a 2008 silverado all done up with leveling kit, shocks, exhaust, intake, and rim &tires. Finally paid it off and had my heart set on a used denali 14 or 15 denali 6.2. All of my friends have recently bought sports cars and giving me the itch, I have a harley nightrod 2014 but Im now considering keeping my truck and getting a used 2001-2004 zo6 because I want to play. Do I need a bike and vette now but Ive had fast trucks, bikes, and snowmobiles but never a car. Problem is where I live in central ny after 5 years ur vehicle turns to sh**. ANy suggestions?

I'd go with the used Vette. Best of both worlds then because you'll have a fun car, and a truck.

^^^^

What he said. Sounds like you have a pretty badass truck as it is. No need to upgrade if you're happy with it, and also no payments.

Upload some pictures so we can see it atleast! haha

Coming from a guy who sold a 2008 Vette to get consolidate vehicles when I bought my 2014 Sierra, Vette all the way.

Not sure I understand that last part of your paragraph. I know your deciding on keeping the truck and getting a vette, but are you also going to keep the bike? I ask only because once you experiance the freedom of a bike, it can't be replaced by a fast car which I'm sure you know.

As for keeping the truck / bike and getting a vette instead of a new truck, that is what I would do. Your truck sounds real nice already and you will basically have the best of every world with that combo. Getting sideways in a car, freedom on the bike and a truck for hauling and bad weather. I dream of that combo some day. It's just a lot of metal to maintain lol.

Having lived in Michigan and knowing what you're dealing with when vehicles turn to shit quickly due to the use of pure salt on the roads during winter, IMO my first purchase would be a home in another state.

I had a 2001 millennium yellow zo6 and loved it and wished I never parted with it to consolidate vehicles. I live in Illinois and in winter I would put it in storage as it was my spring and summer vehicle. Never had issues with salt corrosion. I don't have issues really with corrosion at all as I hose my vehicles off once or twice a week during the winter. My Malibu is going on 3 years old and the underside is rust free as are the body panels. same thing on my 2006 Impala which I was not as religious with hosing it off. 180k on the impala and the mechanic asked if I ever drove the thing as the metal was in such good shape and I never buy the aftermarket coatings just a good undercarriage hose off works wonders.

If you live in the salted road areas, more washing is required but corrosion can be mitigated with a consistent cleaning schedule. Takes all of 10 minutes and your vehicle will thank you for it.

I would get the vette as well and keep the truck.

Not being a bike rider myself its easy for me to get get rid of the hog and splurge on a vette.

But that is your call

Do you hose it off with a pressure washer? Seems like the crappy factory frame wax flakes off much faster when hitting it with that much water pressure.

I keep mine undercoated with oil and 'spritz' the underside with a regular hose to get the salt crap off. Only do it a couple times each winter.

what are plans for said sports car? are you going to modify it to make it faster? ie cam/head/exhaust?

daily driver?weekend fun car? track? road race?

im over the modern sports phase myself...to me they are uncomfortable / low / small and ride llike shit...

my wife loves her 2010 Camaro though...

nothing wrong with vette though...just do your homework if your are looking at certain years with the LS7...They a head design issue
