Left Rear Tire Locking UP

Hello, I have a 95 GMC Sierra K1500. A couple of months ago a problem arose. Every once in a while after starting the truck, when it is put in gear and goes a couple of feet, the back left tire completely locks up. It will roll in reverse, but will not go forward. After turning the truck on and off and switching it in and out of gear it will at random let go. Recently, in one of my attempts to get it moving again, the truck was put into 4WL, This seemingly forced the tire to turn. The sound of something clanging into place occurred and the truck was again mobile. What could the problem be?

Could be a brake shoe that has come apart inside drum. Try acc slightly while breaking.

What should I be looking for while doing this?

When it happened to mine, pressure on the shoe/drum would stop it from binding, allowing the wheel to turn.

Ok. I'll keep that in mind. I'm gong to take my tire off tonight and check the condition of the drum.
