Need a new tailgate

Where is the best place to get new tailgate from? I dont want spend $1000 and I dont want to steal one off someones truck.

Well if you don't want to spend a $1000 or steal it, you options are very limited. :-)

 

Local Salvage? Possibly has a totaled truck that was hit from the front. So the tailgate would still be good.

I have a $500 deducible if its well over $1000 I will just make an insurance claim.

I normally would say to look on LMC Truck, but they still haven't came out with a catalog for the K2 trucks.

 

As said, look around salvage yards, but being that these trucks are still pretty new it would be hard to find one and even harder to luck out and find one with the same color.

 

Best bet might be to just do an insurance claim so hopefully it won't go up if you go or have to go that route.

I have seen numerous ones on craigslist. There are a lot of trucks that seem to be purchased where people or companies then remove the standard bed and part it out. lights, tailgates, whole box, etc...

If yours was stolen or hit I would file the claim, the stock tailgate is around $2500 for the basic one. Start adding on the camera options and other things and it can get around $4-5k or so. Buddies gate was stolen off of his F-350 with the Platinum package, it was $8k to replace his tail gate.

They are not cheap. Mine was stolen the day I bought my truck. I was going back the next day to pick it up,and it was stolen that night. Good luck.

Mine is dented/creased. It needs to be replaced. I am trying to get a shell from someone on craigslist out in Indiana. Very few on craigslist in the chicagoland area. I was quoted $450 for paint.
