You asked for it, we delivered; Factory Camera in Motion and Front Cam

Well I think the hardware kit advertised as a Chevy PP is $999 and requires trailering mirrors. I'm not sure how much more the front camera is and if there is a fee for updates software to lace it all together.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about that piece of wiring harness that plugged in to the factory camera. That is what I was referring to.

Oh dang. You're right. I was looking for a total kit... From zero-to-hero.

How much does the hardware cost?

What hardware?

What year is your Sierra?

Does it have Bose, XM, factory Nav?

Which piece of hardware are you specifically referring to?

He'll need more details to be able to quote you.

If you have a 2016 with factory nav, then there is no necessary hardware beside the extra harness.

If you have a 2015 or below, the price will vary based on what you need.

So I finally got my rear camera in motion all set up. Got my module programmed and got the oem connector harness from Anthony.

I gotta say, I love this feature. A single press of the camera button and the rear view camera is on for 25 seconds. It may not seem like a lot, but it's plenty of time for what I use for. Plus, all you have to do is press it again.

When there's two parking spots open and I pull through and up through to the front most spot, it's nice to press that camera button and see the if my rear bumper aligned in the spot. You want to see how close that guy that is tailgating is to you, click. When my Undercover Flex tonneau cover is locked in the up position and I can't see out of my rearview mirror, click.

The nicer part is that I dropped my truck off for an oil change and balance today, and it took all of 5 seconds to remove the harness from the back when it's going into the dealer.

The other feature it offers is the switch of the square grid lines to the single center tow hitch line at the push of a button, this is a great feature if you're backing up and connection a trailer regularly.

If you already to the factory nav unlock through MVI, this feature is a must add. At least is was for me.

I'd love to have the in motion and camera features but I don't want to lose my pause capabilities

What do you mean by pause capabilities?

Posted

The rewind - pause - fast forward feature of the radio. From what I understand, that was removed from on the 16 models

Yup yup.

It was removed to make room for Android Auto and Carplay.

Hey guys...finally got some "hopefully useful" info to share on what we can do for ya on the camera in motion features. We were finally able to finish up the front camera install and document. So the video below will show the overview of the install AND show a decent demo of both the software unlock for camera in motion and the AV module setup for camera in motion.

Let's start with the software unlock :

This does require the 2016 2.5 HMI with CarPlay/Android Auto. If you have done the upgrade on you're 2014-2015 vehicle or if you own a 2016 vehicle (with CP/AA...can't be the deleted version they are shipping now)...you can do the software unlock. The software unlock will give you the ability to enter addresses into your NAV ( must be NAV equipped...not going to add NAV) while in motion, play video in motion via USB flash drive or factory DVD (again...must be equipped as this will not allow you to magically now play a DVD if you don't have the rear seat overhead video. We will be releasing a DVD factory upgrade though in the next week...just FYI). This will also add 2) more video formats for you to use on the USB video side of things, allow for TEXT message viewing in-motion when not plugged into CP/AA and now give you the camera icon to view camera in motion with a simple icon press.

This will allow for 25 seconds of in motion viewing and then it will time out. Once timed out...you can simply press again. This does require either a simple require at the back of vehicle..which is documented...or just purchase our plug and play harness for $50.00 and keep your wiring intact. This also allows you to put back to factory in a matter of minutes when needed.

Front camera will require some additional parts as the factory setup only has 1input for camera. So we are supplying a T harness and video switcher to accommodate the front camera. I am still documenting those connections and parts cost breakdown..I'll have something put together by Sunday evening.

Text for pricing on the unlock service options and front camera options if interested.

Now let's talk about the AV module option.

This works great for the non 16 vehicles or the ones that have not done the CP/AA upgrade and prefer not to. This module does work in motion and will give you the following

HDMI input...for anything HDMI or use for cell phone mirroring.

USB input for Video, Audio and Pics

1) set composite AV inputs for whatever you'd like...external DVD player for instance.

2) composite video inputs dedicated for camera

This module will NOT allow for NAV entry in motion or unlock the factory USB ports or DVD for in motion video...that Will require our unlock for that. Whatever is plugged into the module will work in motion.

Factory rear camera in motion will require either a simple rewire at the back or our harness kit which will also include the necessary pieces for the connections at the AV module itself. TEXT for more exact details on this.

This setup won't time out and you can toggle right on the screen with an icon.

Again TEXT for more details.

I will be posting a video of the AV module install next so you have an idea of what's involved.

We will also be working on a new harness this week with a built in toggle as an option as well for the rear camera turn on. I'll get info up on that as soon as we have it together.

Hope you like the video !!

Link to purchase the AV module is below

1. Enter coupon code gm-trucks for a $50.00 discount

2. You will need to select the phone cable you need to mirror your phone...If you don't need one, just select AV module only.

3. I will also add an option for the Factory rear camera in-motion harnessing as well (This will run slightly more than the software unlock due to the extra connections needed up front at HMI and AV Module

GM-NAV AV Module and Smartphone Setup with Camera In-Motion Functionality

Due to all that is involved with the 16 Unlock Software...On-Line Checkout is not available. Just TEXT me and we can get you rolling

I will be working on the Front Camera options in the next day or so.

Really cool. Have you tested the phone mirror function on the 15 model non carplay radios? I'm curious if it would be laggy.

Yes...its been tested on many platforms and works pretty good in my opinion. This is an aftermarket module though...important to remember that. Once you have activated the module you are then running on the module..not the vehicles operating system

Here's a new clip showing the front camera activation...pretty cool !!

So in theory If I bought the harness with the toggle (when it's finished) when I toggle it on it would tell the HMI the truck is in reverse and the camera would come on no matter what right. I don't need all of the other stuff just the camera.
