Finally pulled the trigger...

I'm baaaaaaaack....

Well, been a while since I have been hanging out here regularly.

After approx 10 (reliable and solid) years with my 2007 Sierra, I decided to pull the trigger on a new 2016 Sierra SLT. IT was just time for a "refresh".

It's a premium plus with the 5.3 / 8 speed.

I am amazed at how much progress has been made by GM in the last years. So far, I am extremely impressed. Only thing so far is I got the software flash to make Android Auto work with Intellilink. So far, I love my 8 speed. Have been reading some of the concerns here about that transmission. So far, I am extremely happy with it.

Looking forward to lurking around a bit more again. Guess I'll be changing my signature soon...

Nice purchase after 10yrs. Like myself, you keep your vehicle for a long time.

How many miles did you put on your 2007 GMC?

116,000 miles, 95% of which was with an aftermarket tune.

Last October I went from an 09 to a 15. Very similar transition as you and I still continue to be impressed over the improvements. Congratulations!

Nice.....Once my factory warranty is up, I'm going to do a tune.

I'd like to add a Maggie supercharger as well, but am not sure if I can stomach the $6k

I didn't exactly wait to tune my '07 (well, my ancy right foot didn't provide the maturity for me to wait).

My '07 had the four sp automatic. The shifting was lazy and not at engine speeds necessary to really extract the potential from that 5.3. After I tuned it (and took some of the trans nannies out), it was a different truck. A CAI and a performance muffler helped that effort.

I must say, the 8 speed has really changed the character of the truck, IMO. In stock trim, my new one, I must say, has excellent performance and shifts more crisply than my old 4 speed.

I am not disappointed with the performance either. To be fair, I haven't exactly matted it yet. I wanted to get a few thousand miles on it before I start pushing it. That's just me....

Any more, with the extreme focus of the big 3 on warranty concession costs, you are very wise to wait until your warranty ends. All of the modern electronics makes it very difficult to disguise a present aftermarket calibration, or a past aftermarket calibration, especially on the Diesels which they focus on in particular.

To be fair, if I were to tune my truck now, I would not expect GM to honor the warranty on any components directly affected by the tune.

All of that being said, if you do choose put a supercharger on yours, buy a set of throw away tires and post the video... :driving::drool::D
