If anyone might be interested, volunteers in Wichita have been restoring a B-29 for the last 16 years. Sunday at 8:30, weather permitting, it will take it's first flight since restoration. Doc was one of 1,644 bombers built at the Wichita Boeing plant. The plane will take off from McConnell AFB which is pretty much next door to where it was originally manufactured. There will be a live webcast here

glad to see a restore.

that model of plane is associated with the biggest hell on earth.

To park it near a b52 or even a kc135..

it is a small plane in real life.

Grandpas make them seem bigger with stories.

A great education to satisfy curiosity.

Glad they got it restored. Hopefully there's more of them around they can save as well.

My little brother put my dad and uncle on FiFi the "other" 29 last year in Cedar Rapids Iowa. First plane my 88 year old father ever got on. The only plane he said he had no fear of.

"A pigeon hits a 747 and knocks out of the air killing everyone aboard. 29's come home shot to hell." he says.

Love WWII piston pounders. Ever notice how you can't hear one coming but you sure can leaving?
