Low Engine Oil

Was wondering if anyone had this issue come up yet? did a search and didn't come back with any results.

Truck has been in the dealership more than its been out lately...

Got the Truck back on Thursday from getting the cooled seats fixed, seat belt recall (http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/190371-happy-with-your-seatbelt-recall-fix/) and new exhaust for the whistle that happens (http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/181503-whistle-out-of-v4/?hl=whistle).

Was driving for about 5 hours and got a "low engine oil, add oil" light on the DIC. Came back 3 more times over the course of the weekend. I have checked the oil and seems to be at a decent level, Just had the oil changed 4,000 miles ago at the dealer under CPO warranty.

Truck is going back in tomorrow to have them replace my seat belt, again, detail the truck from their shotty job and then to have this looked at.

Would love to educated myself on this issue before it goes in.

any help would be great!

Checked the dip stick and seemed to be right where it should. But will recheck again tonight now that we are home and will check the garage floor/underside for any leaks.

Just had the oil changed? Did they put the right amount of oil in? If its a 5.3 or 6.2, its 8 quarts.

when i say "just" about 3,000 miles ago but that is only 2 months

Since it sounds like the level is OK, the next likely cause is the level sensor. Either bad sensor or bad connection to the sensor.

It looks to me it says 40psi at 1000 RPMs which is just fine, soon as RPMs go up so will the oil pressure. I'm looking at it on my phone maybe I'm missing something?

Not to sidetrack your thread, is that center cluster a touch screen?

Hope they grt it figured out.

Nope, the center cluster is just toggled by the steering wheel buttons

Correct, the pressure and engine temp and everything looks fine. but there is a disconnect with this warning coming on multiple times. Because the gauges were looking ok and dip stick level was good, i drove it the remaining 1000 miles this weekend

Isn't that an oil level warning, not a pressure warning?

Since the oil level has been verified with the dipstick, it must be a sensor/wiring/connector problem.

There is a low oil sensor in the pan. If you are 100% sure the oil is OK on the dipstick then most likely its a problem with the sensor/connector/wiring.

There was someone who posted a broken connector near his oils pan and he was getting a low oil warning. I'm not sure where the level sensor connector is but maybe its in a bad spot and was damaged the last oil change.

My low oil light came on last week and I had just changed my oil two weeks prior to that. The first time it came on, I pretty much ignored it thinking it was just a glitch. A few days later it came on again and that's when it hit me. For some reason I remembered right then and there that I had only put in 6 quarts instead of 8 and I had already put 1500 miles on it with only 6 qts! I guess I was used to changing my oil on my '08 and only using 6 qts. Total brain fart. I say this because maybe the tech made the same bone head mistake I made. Make sure you are checking the oil level when the engine has been resting for a while and not right after driving it.

Thank you all for the advice so far! I took it in this morning to get it looked at. Will be interested to see what they say. Luckily its CPO so dont have to pay for all these days in the dealer
