Any more info on this?

Got it from the website Wish for like $3 or $4 bucks. Cut a circle out in the center piece and it fits perfect. Plugged in the USB port inside the console for now.

what screw did you need to replace?

If you look at both of my photos at the bottom of the holder There is a single wing nut screw. I had to replace that with a smaller Allen screw to clear the vent knob.

Sure I'll try, haven't posted a pic on this forum yet, but here goes.

 

Go to Amazon or similar and order these:

1N4004 400V 1A Axial Lead Silicon Rectifier Diodes

 

You only need one really but order 25 as it's just as cheap once you take into account shipping if you try to order just one.

Plus if you bend or break the one diode, you have back ups.

 

 

Then you'll look under your dash above your gas pedal. You'll see a bunch of small power blocks inserted into a larger one.

You want to locate the BROWN one.

At the top you see a release latch. Go ahead and push it in and pull the small BROWN electrical block out of the larger one.

Twist it around so it's oriented with the release latch up.

 

Using the diagram in the picture I've attached, locate pin/cable slot #10. It's obviously 2 slots over from #8 that's marked on the diagram. Insert one end of the electrical diode down into that #10 slot. If needed use a needle nose pliers. The diode pins are pretty bendable so just make sure you get some of it down into the #10 slot.

 

Then go down to the bottom (last row away from the release latch and go to slot #22 (clearly one over from the #21 that's marked in the diagram).

Push the other end of the diode down into the #22 slot.

 

Once you have them both in the #10 slot and the #22 slot, you've made a jumper "bridge" between the two.

Gently twist the BROWN electrical cube back so it's oriented and push it back into it's motherboard. It will click back in.

 

Insert key in your ignition and test it out.

You're FOG LIGHTS should automatically be ON if your low beam headlights are ON.

When your low beam headlights are OFF, the fog lights will also be OFF.

 

You can now just leave the dash mounted headlight selector in AUTO and your low beams and your fog lights will both automatically come on each and every time your headlights come on, and go off when the headlights go off.

All done.

I'm a little late to the game here, but I have to point out that that pin out is wrong. Not sure where it came from, but, according to my truck, and also according to another pin out I found, the numbers are a relativity mirror image of what this picture says. Notice the molded in numbers 21 and 26 in the picture I took.

That being said, pins 10 and 22 (the correct pins) are the ones needed. Note, 10 is the fog lamp and 22 is the parking light (crap... Now I can't remember if that was right or the opposite...), so make sure to point the diode in the right direction (band on the diode toward the fog lamp). Otherwise the parking lights will come on when you turn on the fig lamps... Not that they aren't already on at that point, but, that's the theory, anyway.c6f9d1f18ccf0e2716ab8dd9e4270a64.jpg

I wrote up how to do this mod after I did it myself, so I know it's correct.

I am not aware of any typo or anything that I posted being a "mirror opposite", and many others have done this mod after reading my post and nobody has had issues.

 

Use #10 and #22 Pin with the diode. Your fog lights will come on when your parking/headlights come on when in AUTO mode on the dial, exactly as I wanted.

You never have to touch the fog light button OR the headlights on button. Just leave it in AUTO and your headlights AND foglights will come on when the light is low.

10 and 22 are correct.

 

This is what it is very important to know what slots you are going into, color wire scheme, and schematic to verify. It can get tricky looking at a schematic and you forget that sometimes you could be looking at a mirror image or the mating connector.

Similar but different.

In order to do that you use different pin slots not pin #10 and #22 as I posted for the fogs on with low beams/parking lights.

This is true, I checked after I posted that it was similar but different. :D

Guess it still is technically, because anybody who using pin 10 (with 18 i believe) will have the fogs stay on with high beams but won't have fogs on with parking/low beams. :D

I went the 10 22 route and also used just a wire to jump 26 brown and 26 pink to have the cargo lights and reverse lights on at same time.

    • I’m out of ideas on this truck. 2020 Silverado 1500. 5.3 135,000 miles. Has a p0308 and p050d codes. Smokes From exhaust when cold. Compression test passed. New plugs, wires and coil on cyl 8. Same issue. New coil on 8, no change. Replaced injectors, no change. Bore scope showed oil pooled on the piston after sitting overnight. Pulled head and had machine shop check it out. No cracks. Stem seals looked good, replaced anyways. He also ground valve seats. Put it all back together and still have the same issue. Bore scope shows oil on the piston again. Leaning towards maybe a cracked ring but unsure. Cylinder looked good when the head was off, no scoring or scratches. Any ideas on what else I should look for?  Appreciate the help

    • Thanks for all that information, I might purchase one and see if it will work for me, if not they may let me return it! Yes for sure the tires are definitely within limit for my truck empty, and when I do tow I'll definitely make sure to raise the rear psi for the amount of weight that's going to be on it.
    • Yes exactly, more and more these days people/companies are afraid of liability issues so its easier just to say no rather than risk putting their neck on the line.    I will say with the Autel unit or when I used it last year on my truck, it wasn't like I could choose the 2025 model year or even the 2024 model year as that option was not there to manipulate the placard pressures but had to go back to 2023 or there abouts and then it showed up as an option, odd but that was how the software was then and I can't say one way or the other now as they throw out updates every so often. I still would talk to your tire dealer though to start with and they may do it for nothing but also they may have a comment on a better unit to purchase. All I know is that one of the large tire shops in my area happens to use these Autel units for their use and set them up to use the wifi and all of that jazz for constant updating because each tire tech has one handed to them by the shop but I just plugged it into my laptop to update it and yes if one is bought it has to be registered so you can get the link to do updates and then the unit has to be updated before its even used. I am not at all techy so it took me a bit but anyway just a heads up for anything you buy, most likely it will need to be connected to a computer to access the internet to have it updated to the latest software version before you can put it to use.   If your truck is near empty, those tire pressures you listed are a very safe upper range pressures to carry the weight, both the front and rear as I know they could be run lower yet with an empty truck. And if its a trailer and not some motorcycle your going to strap onto the front of your truck on a rack, you shouldn't have a need to inflate your front tires if your at 55 front already, its the rear ones that would need more air if you have much hitch weight. 
    • Thank you, I'll check that Autel scanner out and see if it will work for me! Ya I can see GM's point of view if they lower the psi set value for someone and the person sell's the truck and the new owner puts the factory tires back on then their could be liability issues cause the psi warning light wasn't coming on when the tires were under inflated for towing their load and then it might be able to be traced back to GM lowering it.
