Ha - I was wondering when someone would mention the "flares". I actually meant those emergency glow stick type things not a true flare as that could get interesting if a flare was ignited under the hood!

Usually called chemlights. You could def store them in the box but I would recommend against it. Especially if you live in an area with harsh winters as the temp swings will eventually lead to its degradation. It's better to keep a few of those in the cab of the truck.

Great storage option for tools or emergency stash of stuff that's not going to degrade with shifts in temp.

Quart of oil

Funnel

Rags

Duct tape

Spare fuses

Bungees

ICE AND BEER

Ice and beer wouldn't be great with the heat, unless you can find a $500 yeti cooler that fits there lol

I can see why - those 20 year old GM bins are $60 plus on eBay......... Do you have a pictures showing that group 24 box fits?

These tough bins / trays / boxes by Akro-Mils part # 33105 fit the space. Would be great for jumper cables, quarts of oil etc. The vertical slots are for dividers.......... Come in several colors.....

Can you fit a quart of oil in that box?

With some of these trucks you might need to store 5-6 qts of oil in there lol. Its a pretty good idea though. I would like to keep basic hand tools, safety wire and safety wire plyers, along with first aid kit and other things you might need in an emergency.
