I've seen stories like this from RAM owners... Only they are still in their warranty and are getting jacked around.

Honestly they dealers are so hard up for cash these days they all want the warranties reduced.

So all the people that replied wouldn't have a problem being turned down with 200 miles past warranty? And only being 200 miles past with no other issues? I don't think so. Give the guy a break.

I had a simular issue a few trucks back, took it in and said check it out and give me a call with a estimate, when they called they said all fixed up under a good will deal and thanked me for being a valued customer. Mind you I bought 6 vehicles from the same dealer in the last 10 years, so if you expect the dealer to treat you like that you can't be shopping from one for a deal and then expecting the dealer closest to you to help you out. Loyalty has it's rewards.

Read your warranty, mine says if I level, lift or lower the truck as well as install oversize tires or exhaust the warranty is voided. If you plan to mod the truck save the money for mods and don't buy a extended warranty.

Yes it does and I do not mod with my vehicles, unless you call changing out the bulbs to led, adding bed cover, tinting windows, floor mats, undercoating, etc a mod.

If a person does a big mod with their vehicle under warranty, they need to contact GMC and ask them would it void their warranty and on what portion of their warranty it will void.

There is one mod I want to do so bad I can almost feel it in my bones and when the warranty runs out if I keep the truck will be done as sure as I am typing this post.

I think you and I are on the same page, we both did our research before hand. :)

Heck yes I would be mad and very irritated and I do feel the OP's pain. I had a $1100 washing machine take a dump 60 months and two weeks after purchase and it had a 60 month warranty on it, I was bigtime pissed over that and sears did nothing.

All cases like this, will be "good will" with the dealer and them "fighting for you" with GM to cover it. If you have a good standing relationship with the dealer they and GM will take care of you. If it's just some place you bought the truck and they never see you again for services etc probably not so much help from them.

This is one of the reasons I bought the extended warranty. It is really easy for electronics to fail, and expensive to fix them. 200 is close enough that I thought they might cover it but as someone said in another thread... if the dealership does not think they will get reimbursed from GM they will be out of pocket if they cover it. You need to contact GM directly and get coverage approval before the dealership will cover it sometimes.

It's not hard to be a decent human being. Fudge it and make it work for the customer and you will have one for life. Decline service like that and lose a customer and expect them to spread the bad word.

so you want a service advisor to lie, in order to get GM to honor a truck out of warranty?

Not lie. It's called customer service. There's a grace period. It's not like he's several thousand over the warranty.

What would you do if you were in OP's shoes. Just shrug it off or hope they would help you out.

Actually would just fix it instead of whine and hope GM fixes it out of warranty. Would have it fixed quicker also. There's a reason they draw a line of when the warranty stops. Of course I wouldn't be happy, but I wouldn't try to get GM to take responsibility for something happening out of warranty. I don't know what happens, but I can only assume the dealer might take the hit for work just out of warranty. I guess I just find it hard to believe GM would warranty work even if it's just outside of the warranty period. If you let 200 miles slide then where do you draw the added line?

I'd be a bit upset, but at the same time, it sorta is what it is. The more time you spend fuming about it, the worse it will sting. Maybe ask them if they can cut you a deal on some of the labor charges or give you parts at cost since it's fresh out of warranty.

I know I wouldn't just eat a $700 seat repair. It's 200 miles over the b2b. I think that's an easy line to draw.

I don't quite understand situations like this. It is like scoring a touchdown after the clock has hit 0:00 in the 4th quarter. well it was only 3 seconds after the game ended, so it should count right? you knew the rules when the game started.

ACTUALLY...YES! That is exactly how the rules work! The clock can run out and you still can score the winning touchdown 3 seconds afterwards but not you eh? You'd spike the ball before crossing into the endzone.

Bad analogy.
