SO the GMC shop has had my truck for 2 days and they are still working up the estimate so they can tell me how much it's going to cost me for repairs on my 2015 3500 GMC that is 200 miles out of warranty!!! Wouldn't you know it my heated driver seat went out and this weekend my steering locked up on me 3 times while turning slow in a parking lot. The seat alone is over 700 bucks to get it fixed and there is nothing I can do and GM won't stand behind their stuff, so I'm stuck with a 70000 dollar turd! I can't wait to hear the BS they give me about the steering and memory loss it has. What makes me so sick is I traded in 2 great cars for a truck I "thought" was the last one I would buy only to find out it's a POS after 5 months.

If I knew then what I know now about GMC I would never have bought this truck. I am literally sick to my stomach having spent so much on a vehicle/company that blows. To top it all off the GMC service department in Glenwood Springs sucks also. I should have taken it to Lakewood and had them work on it, at least there they had respect that you bought their top of the line vehicle and wanted you to return.

Looking for a new truck,

70000 dollar turd

Why do you think GM will "stand behind" their product if it's out of warranty? I guess that means they should warranty a 10 year old vehicle. You paid a premium price for more features. More features means more that can go wrong.

You should contact GM....the last time I had a truck out of warranty and it was out more than yours, they did offer a substantial discount for repairs, seeing as yours is only 200 miles out, the dealer should have done something...did you buy it from them?

After re reading your post, it looks like you bought a used truck.......with a lot miles....

Mine was 36,500 miles when I had my headlights replaced. Said there is a 600 mile or so grace period.

I would try a different dealer.

How many miles on your truck when you purchased? If you bought with 800 miles your warranty is good until 36,800

Just wondering is this the same truck that you put smaller wheels and tires on that made the mileage on the odometer 201 miles more than it should be?

GM Customer Service rep will probably chime in here for some lip service. They may help, but the reality is, you are out of warranty, as frustrating as it is. I've had similar situations, and my dealer was the one who stepped up to the plate, not GM.

GM told you they would stand behind their truck for 3 years or 36k miles, which ever comes first (and 5 year and 100k or 60k on the powertrain). You knew this when you bought the truck, it is now out of warranty so suck it up, get your truck fixed then sell it and go buy another brand.

I don't quite understand situations like this. It is like scoring a touchdown after the clock has hit 0:00 in the 4th quarter. well it was only 3 seconds after the game ended, so it should count right? you knew the rules when the game started.

Fix the heated seat yourself and save money, why would you ever bring it to a dealer out of warrant for a paid repair?

You have a 3500, obviously you are putting that thing through some serious work towing and hauling or plowing? so your 70,000 truck is getting the job done, you are just freaking out about a 700 dollar luxury part.

If the issue with the steering was a known problem there would be a bulletin or a PIP or a recall and they would repair for free after warranty. Maybe 30,xxx hard miles of working this truck just caused something in the steering to wear out. Also repair yourself or bring to a private shop. Dealer tech work is always way $$$$$$

Spending 70K on a truck? and you failed to spend 2k more for a extended warranty, priceless.

Sounds like a bit of an attitude problem. Go in with an attitude expecting goodwill. There is a 100% chance that will not happen. If someone came in spitting fire in a situation like this they got nowhere.

See when this happens the dealer does the work, the guy acting like a dildo in the service lane, gets a survey, lights up the dealer and that's a bigger deal than an unhappy customer that has no right to be unhappy in the first place.

You catch more flies with honey..... Just saying

I feel the OP's pain and this is the reason why I purchase the largest extended warranty for every vehicle I have purchased. The truck I purchased last week had 12 miles on it when I drove off the lot with 10 years or 120,000 miles which ever comes first bumper to bumper warranty.

Read your warranty, mine says if I level, lift or lower the truck as well as install oversize tires or exhaust the warranty is voided. If you plan to mod the truck save the money for mods and don't buy a extended warranty.

    • Hello hello looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the 2026 2500 HD that I just bought.   Truck has 3500 miles on it four-wheel-drive crew cab and I’m about to put a 6 1/2 inch BDS lift on it 18 x 10 -25 offset with 37’s   Already have the wheels and tires just waiting on the lift install in about three weeks   Question what surprises am I not gonna be happy with?  I’m not new to lifted trucks so I know that acceleration towing gas mileage all that is affected..   Question is those of you that have this truck this powertrain with a 10 speed Allison and have done the mods that I’m doing,,, how bad is it? Is that Allison constantly gonna be hunting for the right gear to go into? And what about towing, acceleration, fuel consumption as mentioned?    Lastly how come I can’t find any ring pinion gear set up for these axles and when could I expect to see them?   I apologize if there’s any typos I’m doing speech to text on my iPhone.
    • I've got a 2013 2500 6.0L Flexfuel. Drove the truck earlier today with no issues. Went to run an errand tonight and noticed key fob wouldn't work. Figured battery was dead, so replaced fob batter. Still wasn't working. Grabbed my other set of keys with the other fob and that one wasn't working either. So I manually unlock truck and insert key. Interior lights come on, dashboard lights up, turn key and truck starts. Turn truck off, like a moron, and try starting again. This time no crank, no click, no nothing. Lights still come on and dash lights up, but now I'm getting a service 4wheel drive, service tire monitor, etc. Check voltage on battery and Im showing 12.2v. Throw my battery charger on it and give it 15 mins and try starting again. But still no crank no start. Decide maybe its a bad battery, run to autozone grab a new one and put it in. Same issue. Disconnect battery and let it sit for 15 mins. Try again and still nothing. I had managed to roll the windows down earlier as its a humid night, but now I can't get them to roll up. Power locks are also not working now. Then randomly I try the key again, and it fires right up. Immediately I roll up the windows as we have nothing but rain forecast this week. I shut it back off wait 30 seconds and start up again. Worked a 2nd time. So turn it off, start putting things back together. Try one more time, and back to no crank no start. And now the car alarm starts going off. Had to disconnect battery and leave it that way for the night as I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my alarm going off again tonight. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
    • No one will care for you like you care for you. Do what you can for as long as you can. IMHO of course.

    • Hi there.  Long time lurker, first post.    i have read the previous posts regarding the water ingress problem with this emblem.  I bought my 1500 SLT the  summer of 2025 new and after reading the MANY problems with these emblems failing I decided to install one anyways.  As per a YouTube video, I sealed ( or tried to) this sign with silicone sealant around the outer perimeter joint and the holes that were already somewhat sealed on the rear plate of the emblem.  And installed the connector assembly using dielectric grease on the connectors. The installation looked great and worked well for about 4 months……then FAILURE.  Grrrrrr…… I live in the great white north and wash my truck weekly in an automatic car wash  to keep the salt off.  Let me tell you that removing the old, failed emblem is a whole different animal than removing the OEM individual letters without removing the grill assembly. Mainly because the illuminated logo is built differently than the original letters which  you can remove the red surface lettering with a knife or some kind of blade which gives access to the tabs which hold the logo onto the grill. So I had to essentially destroyed the old emblem to remove it. Doing so killed my chance of doing somekind of autopsy on the failed , old logo.  But there was plenty of water inside when I ripped it apart.  Prior to installing the new assembly I tried it with the old harness and it works fine.   Does anyone have any insight as to where the water is getting into this emblem? I intend to seal the new logo with slow curing epoxy this time around using a syringe.  I think this newer emblem may be an updated unit which I hope GM got the vendor to fix. It has an October 2025 date on it.    If this one  fails,  I am just going to revert back to the non-illuminated letters….AFTER PULLING THE GRILL.    Any thoughts on sealing with epoxy would be appreciated. Thx!   Doug
