Sierra driver's seat squeak?

Hey guys, I have a 2017 Sierra SLT CC 4x4 with Premium Plus with Z71

Since the day I got it I noticed when I'm climbing in and out of the truck the front seat squeaks.

It sounds like the leather rubbing on something.

When just driving it's fine, but shifting myself around or getting in and out there is a squeaking noise?

 

Is this common? And does it go away with some seat break in? (only have 600 miles on truck)

Not common IMO. I have leather, no squeeks. The steel frame or springs could be the culprit.

On my 2015 I had a squeak as well if I shifted around in the seat, but it was after about a year of driving. Dealer was going to replace the entire frame at first, ended up just replacing the bolts and all has been well since.

 

The seat had a little shift to it when I would reposition myself as well with the squeak.

 

There's a whole thread of driver seat movement/squeak issues, not sure if any of that applies to the 2017.

My 2017 SLT with driver alert package does the same thing. The side leather rubs on the seat frame. Im thinking about taking it in for that but Im afraid of the answer. "Within spec, nothing found"

My 2014 with leather seats rubbed on the plastic that switches are mounted on. The fix for me was to buy some anti friction tape and place it on the area between the seat and plastic.

Yeah I have this driver alert thing too where the seat vibrates and all that if you drift out of the lane without using the blinker.

Maybe it's that? I actually turned it off however as it's a bit annoying when it vibrates too often for things you are well aware of.

It's not a major issue, if I have to take the truck into the dealer for something else, I will bring it up to them then.

But if needed I'll see if I can just place some felt between the leather and the seat frame and see if that solves it.

Again since it's only really heard as I'm getting in or out of the truck it's not a big deal, just a minor annoyance to listen too.

This is the stuff that drives service departments and flat rate technicians crazy. You guys do realize these are trucks and not sealed vaults, right? things make noise sometimes when they move. My leather couch squeaks when I move around on it too, should I call the manufacturer and demand they perform miracles to prevent the laws of physics from happening?

Yes indeedy, if we will all just learn to accept imperfection/ineptitude/inadequacies/incompetence/paucity/deficiency and bad attitude the auto technicians world will be a much happier place and he would not be made to feel "Uncomfortable"

Notice doctors aren't on that list. Mechanics are held to a higher standard than doctors are. When was the last time your doctor "fixed you right, first visit"? And I bet he also gets paid everytime he works on you too.

Funny I've owned dozens and dozens of other vehicles, cheap and expensive, cars, trucks, you name it. This is the first where the seat squeaks in a brand new vehicle. Come to think of it, I don't think any of my 2-3 year old vehicles had seats that squeak.

It's not the leather squeaking, it's the leather rubbing on something that's clearly discernable. If the the technicians (you included??) are driven crazy by doing a job they are paid to do, I'd suggest they get a different job. Their personal gripes with the jobs they chose and are paid to do aren't the customers problems.
