Led light bar behind grill overheating issues

Also, those lights don't work with a truck with the active shutter. It's impossible to install them. I have the same set and unless you either take out the shutters or mod your grille by cutting out the bottom sections and extending the brackets about 4 inches to clear the shutters.

I suppose that's what he was talking about. I would think that the module would be hard to see. And the flappers would be free standing in front of the radiator or even possibly on the sides. If you take it off look around for them and make sure nothing is hitting. It wouldn't surprise me if there are "flappers" since the technology of "flappers" are already used in the headlights for the high and low beams.

there are some plastic pieces on the left and right side of the grill but that's it. My previous car a focus st had active grill shutters that would shut at highway speed for aerodynamics but flappers that shut the entire grill it does not have mind you I do have a base model sierra maybe that's why I don't have flappers?

yeah I didn't think so I saw no shutters/flappers when I disassembled

There is no way that's causing your truck to overheat. Either you just started to notice the gauge doing that or there is another problem that happened close to the time you put it in.

That's not enough of a restriction.

thats what I was thinking that it was coincidence because I see a lot of you guys are running the led bars without an issue. But if I do need to take it to the dealer I will remove it so they don't blame it.

Okay so what about you guys will your temperature rise with hard accelerations or if you hold the Rpms at 3-4K going up hill?

My coolant needle would do that prior to installing a light bar. I'd consider it normal

I would take it to the dealership. Mine has never done that and I'm constantly flooring it. Then again the dealership may not find this an issue as that is not a normal driving habit for most people.

I have watched my temp gauge for 2 days. It does not move from 208°. That being it also has not been over 4° outside. I have a 32in light bar and added expanded metal behind the grill. And I know I need to wash the salt off.

really? Hmm it didn't move even if it was floored like during passing someone in the freeway? But yeah being 6 degrees outside I'm sure would help a lot to keep it cool lol thanks for he feedback!

Not to high jack the thread but since led lights and temperatures are being discussed, has anyone noticed the new led headlights don't generate enough heat to melt snow? My headlights, fog lights and light bar become coated in snow regularly requiring me to get out and clear them off.
