keaneb23 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 5 all around with 50 on windshield isn't bad at all I plan on putting another layer of 5 on the back 3. Who needs windows?
drentlaw1 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 50% tint is not to dark but how dark does the other 5% tint make it look? I currently have my 2016 Silverado regular cab 5% rear window and 25% on the 2 doors and I'm really wanting to go 5% all around with like a 50% or even 35% on the windshield. It would be nice if you can upload a picture from your hood looking in to see how dark it looks. Thanks Ill try to get some Pics tonight when i get off work. having 5% on all the other glass does make it appear to be darker than it is from the outside, but driving at night is where the 50% instead of 35% is nice. But then again I have never went darker than 50% on the windshield haha im just thinking out loud!
keaneb23 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I recommend 3M film to everyone. Nothing beats crystalline I recommend 3M film to everyone. Nothing beats crystalline
Krusty Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Is this with the factory tint on the back? Sounds like it may be best just to do the whole truck. > 15 or 20 on the back window.
Daryl LBZ Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 35% all around on my Cruze with a 5% strip. Didn't want to go too dark to be bothered by the police. The 35% is better than what comes stock atleast, and I have no trouble seeing anything at night.
Krusty Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 It's like anything - some will take it to extremes beyond legal and beyond common sense.........
keaneb23 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 What seems like common sense to some is different for others. I run a business out of my vehicle and have a lot of goodies inside. Plus my eyes are "sensitive". No need for sunglasses in this Florida weather.
KA0S Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 Rear windows on the '17 Sierra are 20%. I'm reading the window as we speak. I've never had any issues with any sort of fading of black leather or any other problems from stock rear windows before. I had a Tahoe LTZ as well with factory rear window tint, and again, no issues. It's not like you're trying to prevent melanoma in the back seat! What does it matter if it's stopping UVB or UVA? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have never noticed a massive reduction in heat from tint either, it's always been a look thing for me. Maybe ill just save some money and do the fronts.

Maybe ill just save some money and do the fronts. It does reduce the heat to a certain extent, but it's not such a massive difference that you're going to not put your AC on after being parked on a hot day. You'll definitely be fine with just doing the two fronts. I've done this with many vehicles, and never had issues. The only time I'd ever consider tinting over the back factory windows, is if they weren't dark enough for my liking....
Silver ice 6.2 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 10% ceramic tint on the five windows... need to do the front windshield 80% ceramic before it gets hot again
Sierra706 Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 i got 35% over the stock tint in the back. I personally dont think its dark enough. Glass does provide some UV protection but does not provide UVA and UVB protection. Also tint provides IR heat protection which glass wont. Modern automotive absolutely does block UVA and UVB. CbrownGT Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 On my '14 the rear doors were 18% and the back glass 23%, per the labels/stickers. I got 20% on the front windows and 20% over the back glass. Didn't tint over rear doors cause I wanted all door glass to match. Got the 20% over the back glass cause I like privacy when driving, people behind me don't need to be able to see what I'm doing or what I'm listening to. I Also have a 5% strip on the windshield. Never even need to wear sunglasses
mjoekingz28 Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Paint your windows and install cameras. They're pushing for autonomous cars anyway.
