I really like this site, great info and good people on here. I joined this site because I enjoyed reading and learning stuff on my new truck. Although it seem anymore when I get on hear it's nothing but people with problems and complaints. I guess I'm lucky because my 15 sierra has been great and I'm really happy with it. I'm getting to the point where I'm about to just stay off here and enjoy my truck. Am I the only one who feels like this or is it just me??

Go take a gander at the third gen section on the Tacoma forums. Wavy hoods, exploding rear diffs, transmission issues- place is a train wreck of complaints, lemon law threats, Toyota reps saying every problem is a 'normal characteristic'.. Holy crap.

No matter what forum you go to, there will always be people complaining and always issues that come up. You can usually avoid those posts based on the title. I find a lot of value in these forums from the content to the forum members and I think that far outweighs the few negative posts.

well yea. That's what forums are. People come to ask questions and complain.

Do you go to the google page for a restaurant and post that your dinner met expectations? No. But when you have a server that sucks, you immediately go and post about it online. (maybe not you, but some people)

Just because the forum is full of complaints, doesn't stop some half a million people from buying a new truck from GM every year.

P.S. approaching 2 years of ownership of my 2015 and I still love it.

Ironic to be complaining about complaining! My '15 has been virtually flawless and I enjoy reading this forum. I appreciate the many different perspectives and often sign-off feeling even better about my truck!

This is spot on.

I used to always go to a forum to search and Troubleshoot issues.

All I'm getting at is it would be nice to see more positive post. Not trying to ruffle any feathers. This is a great site.Sometimes just get bummed about all the negative comments.

This and other sites like this has caused me to not be as willing to trade in like I use to. If it's Not causing me trouble I'm driving it longer. It's would normally be time for me to look, I'm not even interested that's new for me.

Typically people come to a forum to ask questions and for guidance when something goes wrong, not usually to say that they have had no issues

I thought this site did a good job with putting those on the issues and troubleshooting sections. I have had my share of complains, but they were always on the section for it. Is that not the case anymore? Tapatalk doesn't display like a PC.

Sometimes the complaints can get you looking at things that you may have never given much thought about.

I recall reading someone complaining that thier frame was rusting after a few months and gm approved for it to be sanded and recoated.

I've had my 16 silverado for several months and figured I better check and found that everything looks good.

This is my 3rd silverado. Had a 97, 05 and now this one. Bought them all new and never had any problems with any of them.

When these trucks first came out there were a lot more posts about "how to modify this or that". Now that most of the modifications are listed, it seems that every 4th post is about lifts, leveling and tire size. I swear that every imaginable tire size, lift kit, and shocks have been posted dozens of times. Like mentioned above, I just avoid those topics.

    • I have the VSE CCV kit. It is a quality product. Fairly easy installation. I vent it back into the turbo intake horn, like stock. I check the reservoir monthly. I have seen oily water come out. So far, after 6 months I would say it has collected about 8-10 ounces of crap.
    • I'm getting out in public more these days and rely on a walker for anything more than short distances.  I am impressed with how kind others are in their efforts to assist when they see me doing the old man walker shuffle!  I find teenagers hanging out at the mall are often the first to get ahead of me to open a door or to offer me the opportunity to get in front of them in a lineup!  I am very fortunate that this is temporary for me and I have a developed a huge appreciation for those seniors struggling to maintain some mobility. Walkers, canes or scooters will assist with mobility but they don't eliminate the challenges.  Chances are the individual using these devices are hurting.  A few kind words of recognition from a stranger can take away the discomfort for a few moments.  I am looking forward to paying forward all of the kindness I have received!
    • Curious @newdude, how does this change when a 6L80 is either fitted with a billet converter OR is behind a V6 whose converter isn't a pile of junk? Oh, and are you saying in the above the 4-5-6 clutch's burning up is the result of the converter/pump induced failure or they are just fragile? Thanks in advance for any feedback you may be willing to give.
    • 5.3 Sierra with approximately 80,000 miles had a radiator replacement about 6 months ago which required pulling the AC condenser and a vacuum and recharge on the system.  AC cooled fine until about a month ago, when it would suddenly start blowing lukewarm air for 5 minutes at a time at various points throughout the day, then suddenly resume cooling again.  Sometimes its when stopped at an intersection and other times while moving.  I've read about the internal electronics in the compressor going bad on these trucks and not cycling properly, but sounds like many dealers just chase AC issues with a parts cannon.  Also wondering if they charged it correctly when the radiator was replaced.   Is there an easy way to see if these electronically driven compressors are engaging properly, or to check for freeze up, etc.?  Dealer usually wont do much unless they can replicate or I can show them a video of what's going on.
    • Apparently it doesn't trigger a fault, at least according to my dealer, but in one month its gone from once or twice a week to several times a day, so you can catch it on video and its likely to be seen by the dealer.  I've heard some have replaced only the switch, yet others have required full shifter assembly replacement to the tune of $900+?
