Easier than splicing, just trim the tab on the OEM connector. No waiting. 3 minutes and you're done

I called GM Customer Care 1-800-462-8782.
I went to dealer and asked them to assess my wireless charging module as it has never worked for me, regardless of the phones used with or without cases, and both on and off of their approved list that was released January 2018.

(Even though the truck was sold in 2017, so retroactively becoming selective with approved devices? Like lol, what?)
They tested it and used EL-51755 Test Tool, a small tool that to my analysis is designed to sit a wireless receiver in just the right position completely flush with the charging mat in order to get a connection over the single coil, and which indicated the charging module was working properly.
I then asked two of the service men who had approved phones to place their phones in the charging mat. Neither worked, with or without cases.
I also walked them over to a 2018 same exact trim as mine, and had them replicate the process. The phones connected instantly, with or without cases and with plenty of variance in positioning.
While they understood the situation they had to deny replacing the module with a 2018, as per their official testing it was working as intended.
I informed them that while I understood they are following official process, there is clearly a valid issue at hand and would be contacting GM Customer Care.

I called GM CC and gave a detailed description as above.
Within 24 hours the agent assigned to my case returned my call, although I missed it.
Since they are closed weekends I returned the call today, and re-explained my situation. The agent was friendly, understanding, and said he would contact my local dealer.
Within 30 minutes a service man from my dealership called, said some GM department he wasn't familiar with was calling him telling him to approve "something with my phone".
I returned this call within 15 minutes. Unfortunately this conversation was a bit deferring in nature, the guy was a bit belligerent in asking if my phone was on the approved devices list, and made some other hostile comments, basically presenting a "not my problem" and "this is how it is" attitude.
He would be happy to replace it with a 2017 module, but when I specified 13521066 he got upset and stated to me that it was a 2018 part and as he told me before he couldn't order it.
I told him I would prefer to contact GM CC and clarify things.
I recontacted my agent at GM CC, updated him on the call with the dealer, and stated clearly that my intent is to have GMC provide for me, under warranty replacement, a 2018 module part # 13521066 and that I will install it myself as I am quite sure the servicemen would gripe about the harness plug being slightly different.
I simply want my vehicle to function as advertised, and it is also well within the bumper to bumper warranty (which covers electronics).

I will update as things progress.

Good news, just got a nice call from the dealership that the 2017 module has been revised to address the issue and they will be replacing it for me under warranty this Monday.

Yep.  GM will not be addressing this issue.  Not worth the time or frustration.  Just drop the $100 and move on.  Glad I did.

Mine is being replaced this Monday under warranty. See above.

Great news - you'll have to report back what they do.  I'm assuming a module revision means they will install the 2018 charging module - don't really see how they could modify the 2017 module.

Yeah, I got a laugh out of it because they're refusing to call it a 2018 module.
They all specifically say "revised 2017 module", I'm guessing its a 2018 module with a 2017 harness/plug so they servicemen can easily replace.
I will update after my appointment on Monday.

According to pgamboa I thought the 2017 cable would not plug into the 2018 module without some sort of modification which is why he designed the new cable.

Please report back on this and show us what part they install.

Fyi to eberyone needing the plug. Mouser now has 1500 in stock. I just ordered 2.

So I received what I thought was everything I need to do the oem retrofit on MY 15 Sierra but i ran into two issues. First one is the trim ring that goes around the charging mat, online the pn:22792216 cross references to MY 2017. The second issue is with finding the power source for the module. Online it shows that pn:23211330 for the 15 and 17 but I took the console apart and there’s no plug on my harness, so depending on cost I’m going to try and order the harness once I figure out the pn or option #2 is tapping into the rear cig lighter outlet. But if anyone has an idea of what the actual part numbers are I would appreciate it.

Same, I dont have wireless charging but I'd like to add it and I assume I need the harness to do so, unless there's a plug in there. But I doubt they'd include it, that would be too easy.

I have this issue with my SLE, if the truck doesn't come with the option, it doesn't have the connector there to "add" it in after the fact which is strange because the heated steering wheel option has the connector there to be plugged into if you're so bold to upgrade to add that feature.

God I miss the old days where you just needed to buy the option and you could add it yourself since it was a single harness or you could buy the missing harnesses to cover it all.

So i went to the dealership today trying to get some part numbers, since i'm piecing parts individually due to me purchasing a center console lid on eBay that was just the leather wrapped lid. Anyways heres a list of parts that i've ordered so far with the exception of the center console harness.

Center Console Harness P/n:23241964

Wireless Charger Module P/n:13521066

Charging Mat P/n:23264395

Hinge Cover P/n: 23247228

Tray trim P/n:84017364

So far i repined the harness that goes to wireless charger with the new connector, verified that the center console harness P/n:23211330 that comes with the 2014/2015 center consoles did not have the connector provision for the wireless charger. I planned on replacing the center console harness with the harness listed above but found out that its on a national back order with no eta. So once i receive the last piece i ordered, i plan on making a new harness. I'm going to splice into the rear 12v plug and run it to the charger module.

    • Thanks for response. Leak was right under drivers seat or thereabout.   Had checked by other mechanics and have read other information.   The solution can be a tad complicated and replacing multiple parts And with some.  The issue was still the same.   The brakes do work.   Just that the pedal is softer and goes further down.  But the brakes do work.
    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
    • Its all automatic based on yaw sensor data.  If enough incline is detected, it engages.   My recommendation though would be to disengage it before driving off and not let it auto disengage by touching the gas pedal.  The HD trucks use the same setup as prior years, the drum in hat park brake.  But now with an electric actuator.  If you drive off repeatedly over time, it can torque the park brake shoes and can also prematurely wear them out.           Electric console shift will set the park brake on flat ground too.  Pretty sure they've got it programmed to activate every time.
