I tried my new iPhone X tonight.  Could not get it to work.

Did you do the rubber mat rotated 180° mod?

No I haven’t rotated it. I thought about pulling off the rubber piece to see if it is an issue of placement.  I might try that.

That is why we have been asking if we can get updated chargers or console lids from the 2018 model trucks.

Yes I saw that. It does not explain why though. It may be as simple as a placement issue.  Apple does not say what part of the Qi spec is not followed by GM. I know it is a long shot but I figured I would give it a try.

I found it somewhere.. I can't seem to find it now... if I remember correctly it has to do with the difference in wattage output in 2017 and lower model year vehicles; the iphone x requires a higher input wattage to start and maintain the charging process.  After you go through all the trouble, you will get the iphone x to connect for a few seconds and then disconnect and it won't continue charging.

Best of luck, though.  If you get different results please report back!

Ah, dang you went further than I did.  I will probably still give it a shot.  Last night I couldn’t even get it to start charging.

Thanks.

Dang. Good to know though.  Currently I have an S6 with an otterbox case, which is too big for the mat as others have pointed out. However, the phone is due for a replacement.

Def interested in a lid mod and/or software update that will look ok.

From what I can ascertain, the lids are the same. The charger bezels are the same, but the rubber insert, and the charger itself is different. I have the VIN from a friends 2018, and I plan to see if I can get some part numbers and prices for the 2018 specific charger and rubber pad. Not sure if the charger will be compatible with the 2017 truck.

In my console take apart and observation, the charger itself needs a Battery Positive Voltage and Ground. I would imagine the lids being physically the same, we could potentially swap the actual charger itself. I know similar mods actually do this using the same incoming power voltage.

Also curious on part #s.

I have a mount for my phone and cable but it be nice to extend the charging lid feature to my passenger.

Yeah i took it apart and tried it with my iPhone X. I was wondering if distance from the charger was an issue.  Still didn’t work.

The 2018 works just fine with my iPhone X.  I just went to the dealership and tested it out.  I got the part number for the 2018 wireless charger module which is 13507652.  The parts guy said that it only stated model year 2018 for that part.  He also said that it is so new that there is no price in the system for it yet either.
