Thinking of Dale Jr. today and his announcement of retirement at the end of this season.

I am one of his fans and as any of you who have seen pictures of my garage know I was a big fan of his dad. Congratulations Dale on a great career and now you move on to another part of your life.

Anyone who watches NASCAR knows what you have done for the sport and we all hope you continue to be involved in it!

Best wishes to you and Amy !

It is sad to see him go but its probably time. Would have loved to see him win the points. What was his best points finish in all his years? Did he ever make it in the top 5?

Maybe this is the year! Lol

He's become a very mature and responsible young man.

No need to chance becoming a statistic.

Maybe he'll teach DEIII all he knows about being a racer (safely).

3rd in cup series, and 2 championships in Busch.

This decision didn't surprise me all the much. I figured after last year's severe concussion issues, and his off season marriage, his retirement wouldn't be too far in the future. I give him credit for working as hard as he did to get back in the car. He is leaving on his own terms, glad for him, he isn't a young pup anymore at 43.

I agree.

he is not cutting short.

in real active jobs, bosses tend to pay attention from mid 30s onward.

Dale jr is actually an old guy now.

change of life..

I was such a fan when I was in my ealry 20s.

I had an all black monte SS, a baby blue one.. a grand prix LE with factory floor shift.

His dad was a hero.

I am only 1 year older than Dale jr.

I'll miss him for sure, but I haven't watched a race in 2 years now so I guess in reality it won't be much different for me.

I'll definitely miss him too as I've been cheering for him since he entered Nascar. My dad was a fan of his dad and that's how I got started cheering for his son. Made races more fun.

After his concussion last season I have to admit that it really didn't surprise me... But kudos to him for getting back in the car and leaving on his own terms!

Now I guess after this year I"ll have to look for a new driver... I think Chase Elliot looks like a real promising driver... We shall see.

He's a contender too

Hes gonna win Dega today! Not my driver, but hate to see the Earnhardt name not on the track. Just doesn't seem right to me.

Kyle Larson is my guy these days. I'm 30 and have been going to sprint car races on dirt since I was 8. I watched him come up through the ranks in such a short period of time, they called him Young Money. The natural gift he possesses to wheel a car is absolutely incredible. Also, he does not come from money. The guy has driven his way to Nascar and still jumps in sprint cars and outlaw karts at local tracks anytime he can.

He reminds me so much of Gordon, but I truly think he is going to be better than Gordon on the track. If you could take Jeff's presence behind the camera and infuse it with Tony Stewart's wheel skills, that is how I see Larson.

Gordon was my driver forever. We share the same brithdays and won the Brickyard that I was at on our birthday so it was pretty easy to pick a driver at that point haha. Now still rooting for the 24, just different name. Chase has a ton of talent just needs to stay in the top 5 all year and win a damn race!

Iv been a fan since 79, just like the show. My favorite died in 01, since then I enjoy all the drivers. I wasn't surprised at Jr retirement.

Jr's driving style is outdated, he won't get off the wall. Driving by himself in a straight line, he does good. Proof by his qualifying positions. But when the race starts he doesn't want to mix it up. The best drivers today are mixing it up and junior wants everyone to just get along. It's ok to bump someone as long as you don't wreck 'em. Sr and Davey Allison was my boys, still got Davey's car ('Bird) after 30 years, but it's time for jr to go. He's my wife favorite driver and we cheer for him at the house as long as he is driving, but as a fan of the sport he's not going to win another race unless he mix it up (he actually said over the spotters mic he was letting the team down). It's ok to go to the winners circle with some donuts on the side or a jacked-up quarter panel held together with duct tape.

    • I've got a 2013 2500 6.0L Flexfuel. Drove the truck earlier today with no issues. Went to run an errand tonight and noticed key fob wouldn't work. Figured battery was dead, so replaced fob batter. Still wasn't working. Grabbed my other set of keys with the other fob and that one wasn't working either. So I manually unlock truck and insert key. Interior lights come on, dashboard lights up, turn key and truck starts. Turn truck off, like a moron, and try starting again. This time no crank, no click, no nothing. Lights still come on and dash lights up, but now I'm getting a service 4wheel drive, service tire monitor, etc. Check voltage on battery and Im showing 12.2v. Throw my battery charger on it and give it 15 mins and try starting again. But still no crank no start. Decide maybe its a bad battery, run to autozone grab a new one and put it in. Same issue. Disconnect battery and let it sit for 15 mins. Try again and still nothing. I had managed to roll the windows down earlier as its a humid night, but now I can't get them to roll up. Power locks are also not working now. Then randomly I try the key again, and it fires right up. Immediately I roll up the windows as we have nothing but rain forecast this week. I shut it back off wait 30 seconds and start up again. Worked a 2nd time. So turn it off, start putting things back together. Try one more time, and back to no crank no start. And now the car alarm starts going off. Had to disconnect battery and leave it that way for the night as I don't think my neighbors would appreciate my alarm going off again tonight. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.
    • No one will care for you like you care for you. Do what you can for as long as you can. IMHO of course.
    • How about them NICKS!!!
    • Hi there.  Long time lurker, first post.    i have read the previous posts regarding the water ingress problem with this emblem.  I bought my 1500 SLT the  summer of 2025 new and after reading the MANY problems with these emblems failing I decided to install one anyways.  As per a YouTube video, I sealed ( or tried to) this sign with silicone sealant around the outer perimeter joint and the holes that were already somewhat sealed on the rear plate of the emblem.  And installed the connector assembly using dielectric grease on the connectors. The installation looked great and worked well for about 4 months……then FAILURE.  Grrrrrr…… I live in the great white north and wash my truck weekly in an automatic car wash  to keep the salt off.  Let me tell you that removing the old, failed emblem is a whole different animal than removing the OEM individual letters without removing the grill assembly. Mainly because the illuminated logo is built differently than the original letters which  you can remove the red surface lettering with a knife or some kind of blade which gives access to the tabs which hold the logo onto the grill. So I had to essentially destroyed the old emblem to remove it. Doing so killed my chance of doing somekind of autopsy on the failed , old logo.  But there was plenty of water inside when I ripped it apart.  Prior to installing the new assembly I tried it with the old harness and it works fine.   Does anyone have any insight as to where the water is getting into this emblem? I intend to seal the new logo with slow curing epoxy this time around using a syringe.  I think this newer emblem may be an updated unit which I hope GM got the vendor to fix. It has an October 2025 date on it.    If this one  fails,  I am just going to revert back to the non-illuminated letters….AFTER PULLING THE GRILL.    Any thoughts on sealing with epoxy would be appreciated. Thx!   Doug
    • PS: Here's pic of the 2014 wheels I'd like to run when it's not winter. Stuck my finger around new wheel caliper setup. Very little clearance. I suspect these won't fit, but won't know for sure till I try.   Edit: And my first mod. Stubby antenna from the old truck.
