Yeah they used to call GMC the Gay Mans Chevy cause they were prettier. I am secure enough in my sexuality to still say I like GMC better. But the redline chevy might actually be the best looking, and I might trade right now for a high desert redline 6.2...

I love the logic progression. Guys, we need to take notes. The applicability here is HUGE.

 

Baby on the way = crew cab upgrade

Three passengers v two passengers = 6.2l upgrade

Kid upchuck risk mitigator = mandatory leather seats, Husky/WeatherTech IMMEDIATE upgrade.

Wife may drive one day =. Onstar full package maintenance

It may rain = tier 1 A/T tires

Crib/playpen purchase = tonneau cover upgrade

 

Freakin awesome. We got to continue this.

 

I like both. Bought GMC. Always thought GMC trucks best looking on the market - even when I owned other brands.

 

Sadly this is exactly what many suburban dads thought process is on pickup trucks and the exact reason they are getting so expensive and boarder line pricing them out of those that actually use and need them. Then complaints of lacking tech or harsh ride come to the table in conversations because it doesn't check the boxes their luxury car they traded in did.

 

Don't forget to add "may wonder on to a dirt road/parking lot or see flurries fall from the sky = 4x4 with locking differential and off road package"

 

Such a pity...

 

To the original question (though not sure why there is a thread/question as adults can make their own decisions) but 14/15 Chevy 16+ GMC.

I had my heart set on the GMC, but when I ordered my new one I went with the Chevy and do not regret it. I mostly changed my mind due to my father in law and brother in law both having Sierras and I would rather stand out :-D.

 

In the end dude.....get what turns your crank which with a baby on the way.........hahahahahahaha sorry!

if you're talking 16+ i prefer the gmc for front and rear

 

for me though, i LOVE the front end of the '14 silverado i have... most likely becuz it's similar to the 88-99 chevy front end (which i still love)

 

i do prefer the gmc tails though

 

 

I agree with Chris on front end of the Silverado. I always liked Chevy, but the front ends of past models were "meh" to me. When I saw my '15 I fell in love with it. One of the best body styles they've had IMO. That being said, I like GMC as well and wouldn't hesitate to buy one. I would say the GMC is a bit more "luxurious" out of the two.

I'm surprised it took this long! There was a time this type of marketing was much more common. (Ford/Mercury etc.) It is incredible how General motors is able to keep enough similarities with some differences to enable such a discussion! One difference I haven't seen is GMC is easier to spell than Chefrolet!

Whether you spell it Chefrolet or GeeEmSea as long as you don't try to spell truck starting with the letter "F" you'll be okay.

I really like the 16+ gmc and silverado. I have a 15 I bought in August 15,should have waited and got a 16. But I did not know they where changing them when I bought mine.

I initally had my heart set on a new Chevrolet LTZ. I would ride by my local dealership about once a week just to check out what was new but I just couldn't bring myself to pay 55+ grand for a new truck. Then one Friday night I was on my way home from dinner out with the other half and on my way past the GMC dealership I see a big banner advertising 20% off MSRP on select models. I turned around and went back to check out the trucks. One of them caught my eye so I was there the next morning and drove the truck. That was it, I fell in love and wanted it. The problem came when we could not reach a deal with my trade so I left and went home to ponder on it and they ended up selling the truck before lunch time and they didn't have any others that interested me. I jumped in the internet and found a couple of trucks at another dealership not too far away. I decided that I was going to go check them out but before I got out the door I changed my mind thinking it would be a waste of time and they would never give me what I wanted for my trade since they had their truck discounted 20%. My wife kept asking me if I was sure I didn't want to go check them out, I said no that it would be a waste of time and I would just come home disappointed. Luckily she finally insisted that we at least go look. We arrived late and the dealership was not going to be open much longer. Then I saw "THE TRUCK" the next thing I knew they were locking the door and we were inside negotiating, It took a little while but I ended up with a new truck. So to make a long story short I had my heart set on a new Chevrolet till I laid eyes on the new GMC. I am so glad that it worked out this way cause I really do prefer the looks of the GMC over the Chevrolet even though they are both beautiful trucks!
