USB Drive in 2017 Silverado 1500

Hi, I just bought a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500. My wife wants me to put music on a usb drive, one folder for her, and one folder with kids music. The problem is I can see the kids music, then when I put hers on it, you can only see her music. I have formatted it to Fat 32 and its 32 gb stick. I cannot seem to figure out what I need to do? Can anyone share any thoughts why there might be a problem?

Are you trying to move between the 2 folders you created on the USB drive?

That's what I did. Have some movies and music on a flash drive for my kids and my music on the sd card.

How do you get the moves to work? You have a 14-15?

Only 1 folder is recognized on a USB drive. If you actually want to sort folders you will have to interface with a phone or MP3/Ipod.

That's not true, at least on the '17. You can make a couple folders and switch between them.

Here's my video showing how to do that.

I have a mac so I went with handbrake to convert video files to mpeg 4 I think. I change the picture settings to no bigger than 480x something. I will check when I get home from work. I also changed the sound settings but don't remember off hand to what. I have been able to consistently get the videos to work. Will check back later when I double check the settings.

I've tried a whole host of files converted by handbrake doesn't seem to work. I think it's not enabled on 16s

Did you have to do something special for Folder View to work? I swear I tried this the other day, and it gave me an error, something about Folder View not working on my device???

Nothing special that I'm aware of. I just created my folders and put my music into the folders, plugged it into the USB port(by the cigarette lighters) in my center console and chose USB media. From there you can see in my video how I switched between folders after that....

I was using a 32GB USB drive, FAT 32 format..

I just checked the handbrake settings that have been working for me. I change format to mpeg-4 and in picture setting, max height of 480. It is no where near high def but good enough for me.

I use folders for genres and then sub folders for artists.

Works fine. Usually I just have it set on random, but I can also go into a folder and random that if I want to only hear a specific genre or artist.

I tried it this morning and it worked just fine. I could have sworn it gave me an error last week, but who knows.

Appreciate the help nonetheless.
