Well, I hate to post this topic but I need to ask. Does anyone just drive through a car wash like at Chevron or something? And if so, can the antenna take it?

I know, I know, I would rather not. But the water here is shit, and I have muscular dystrophy, so washing even my last car really killed me. A truck will be way harder.

Please don't hate me :)

Thank you.

I take mine through all the time in the winter just to get all the salt off (lovely NY state)....it's a no-touch wash. Beats the heck out of freezing my ass off in my driveway!!! I've never had a problem with my antenna.

Yeah. If it has bruahes I would unscrew it. But I have seen our porters here on the lot just bend it back and close the door on it when they're being lazy.

Definitely don't just drive thru w it on. It can snap.

You're actually injecting a high pressure salt brine into every nook & cranny since automatic car washes recycle their water.

Recycled water which is then filtered to remove all the detergents, waxes, dirt, and salt. And there's also that water that has been treated through reverse osmosis to produce a clean, spot-free rinse at the end of the wash. Go for it OP, a quality touch-free wash establishment is perfectly fine when a hand wash is not achievable. Good luck!

That could be the case, but at 43 years old and numerous vehicles driven through these NY winters with no rust, I'm thinking it's taking quite a bit of the salt off. I don't know the ins and outs of the automatic wash...but it seems to work for me.

Long as the carwash does not have brushes or those foam "finger" scrubbers of any type you will be fine. If possible remove heavy mud and dirt first before going thru the wash.

I ran my Iridium truck through and now run my Summit White through. I have the $30/month unlimited top option less tire shine and never had a problem with swirls/scratches or bending my antenna.

OP I might try to find a modern high quality wash rather than your local gas station wash, but no problems for me.

Mine has the foam and never had a problem with it yet. And yes remove the heavy mud and dirt first and vacuum out the bed of your truck so that the leaves and crap in there doesn't get blow onto the vehicle behind it.

That's like telling people to actually walk inside the Chubby Burger instead of using the drive thru, ain't happening...

My '07 avy has made probably 500 or so trips through the soft cloth maximum touch wash in its 205k life in Michigan. I'm still on the original fm antenna. The clear coat may be a little thin on the edges now, but I still get compliments on the truck. No hesitations running my '17 CC through there either.

I too have the unlimited option with the soft foam bristles...paint looks (and feels to the touch) good. I'd unscrew the antenna if it were me.
