Curious on thoughts on waxing and if in the modern day clear coats if wax is still necessary? Thinking of getting a coat on before winter but wondering if there's a real need to for paint / clear coat protection?

YES! Think of clear coat as paint without color. It still scratches.

Makes cleaning the truck easier too. Dirt and debris don't stick to the paint as easy.

Remember if you take care of your vehicle it'll outlast one that is neflected.

You might want to consider a ceramic coating....have not gotten one myself, but the results I've seen from my local detailer has made me consider one...

I use spray wax once a year on the newer vehicles. My 92 truck paste wax with my buffer. It makes a difference.

I have been curious about having this done/doing it myself. I am pretty well versed in waxing, washing, vehicle paint care but can you provide some insight to the ceramic coating?

The rain washes my truck. There will be no waxing.

I've never waxed a truck or any other vehicle I've owned in my entire life.

its a SUPER thin layer of silica (glass) that protects the paint and resists water. It lasts up to and over 2 years I’m some cases. It is a bit of a process though. YouTube ceramic coating.

It's only necessary if you want your truck to look good. The wax protects the paint from the elements. It makes a big difference.

“Wax” does not protect paint. It enhances shine. It also doesn’t keep your truck cleaner because the carnuba in wax is actually somewhat “sticky” so dust will stick more easily. There’s a lot of misconceptions out there. Get a coating or sealant.
