You can find it on ebay.  search for vinyl piping

you could make them dimmer by adding resistors, or something that serves that purpose, to decrease power input and decreasing how bright it is

Anything ever come of this project?  I passed a CTS the other day with the led piping on the doors and thought looked cool.

..yes you can dim el wire.. you just need to use PWM you can't just add a resistor
