Frame paint is gone before 10k miles

Many times car washes blast it off. Mine is a thick black tar. But has all came off the first week where the car lift touches the frame. I will have it re coated when the weather is better.

Its not paint, its wax.  They all do it.  GM can re-finish it under your bumper to bumper and that's about it.  Grab a can of Daubert NoxRust 121B and touch it up as you go.

The rust you see is purely cosmetic.

The new generation trucks are also waxed frames.

when I'm ready for a new truck in 2026, I will not buy a GM product if they're still waxing the Un painted  frames.

There are a few options...

Buy Daubert NoxRust 121b areosol wax spray.  Not cheap, but an exact match to the current wax on the frame.

Or

Have the underbody thoroughly cleaned and then zebarted (undercoated).  No experience here but it is an option.

Or

Touch up the frame where the wax coating is rubbing off or thinning out with frame paint from auto parts store.

The wax is really a bitch to deal with. I put a lot of effort into maintaining my vehicles but have never needed to put this much effort Into a brand new truck.

Im personally going the route of Dauberts to touch up the frame. I do this in the spring and fall.

It's $12 for a can that will cover around 10 sq. ft.  Not sure what qualifies as cheap to you, but I feel that's pretty inexpensive.

Also, it's not an exact match, it dries quite a bit glossier than the original stuff.  You can definitely tell where it's been applied.  I think this is more a function of the method of application though - dipping vs. spraying, than the product itself being different.

Dont bother spraying paint or undercoating on the frame....will just wash off. You have to get alllll that wax crap off for anything to stick.

Unhook your battery....take all the grounds off the frame and wipe clean connectors and spots on the frame with a solvent.....that wax is even between ground connections.

On my other truck I had, the frame/underside and wheel wells stripped and line-x. Takes a little work because it's best to have all bolts removed so not to be line-x over. Truck spent lots of time on dirt gravel roads and harsh winters and still looked like it was just sprayed on after 7 yrs

Anyone's as bad as my 2014? I just Fluid Film heavily every few months and wash it regularly. Wasn't quite this bad when I bought it this summer.

I've read several places that fluid film strips away the factory wax coating, which appears to be what has happened in your case. I've seen a quite a few posts here and on silveradosierra forums where guys have had the same thing happen.

I went with the strip the wax off and have the truck undercoated. It was an absolute nightmare. The wax was easily coming off in several spots, but most of it did not come off so easily. I spent a weekend with the truck on blocks spraying degreaser on the frame and stripping the wax off (could not find a shop that was willing to do it in the area).

I took it to the closest line-x dealer (1.5 hours away) and they sprayed their undercoat solution on the truck. It is seeming to hold up better than the wax, but there were several spots the line-x dealer missed and a lot of overspray on the truck and in the engine bay. The line-x dealer offered to touch up the spots, but I didn’t feel like making the drive again.

If I had it to do over I would probably just touch up the frame as the wax falls off rather than strip and have a better undercoating applied
