Range device

Make sure to unplug it a week or so before going in for any state inspections with emissions. The onboard computer needs 10 clear drive cycles in order to signal ready for emissions testing.

I've gone one.  Had it for over a year.  Love it.  Never got a CE/code.  Best $200 ever.  No drone in the exhaust and it drives so much better in rush hour traffic.

It’s still working as advertised. Unplugged it for a dealer visit with no issues. I’m one of the folks that will tell you my mileage has decreased slightly.  With v4, I’ve gotten up to 24 plus  mpg on long highway stretches. With the range disabler, that # dropped to just over 22 mpg. Around town, it’s about the same drop, but  I still feel the truck is more enjoyable with the range device.

I dropped over a mpg in the city and 2 on the highway. YMMV. Still, I like the response of the drive train/engine with Range installed. Some of this might be because the vehicle iis much more fun to drive.

when i got my first range on my 2014 chev it would through 2 codes and i would just clear them since i have the newest firmware no codes i also lose about 1.5 mpg but at least my truck doesnt vibrate in v4 mode and it also got rid of the harsh 4 to 3 downshift

I've had mine on for about 2 months. Ordered it directly from range. So far so good, no codes. Made the truck feel more "normal" to me. I had a lot of hesitation and lack of power because of afm. My transmission felt like it was messed up. Pretty much the same stuff most people complain about. So far I love the range device.

I am planning on buying the range device from summit racing equip. Any concerns about that? Has anyone purchased one from there. Alot of people on the site reviewed it as play and play no issues. Just want to make sure if someone on here purchased one and is having issues now. I have a 2018 silverado.

I have a 2018 Tahoe and have had it for 3 months and 7k miles. No issues. I didn’t purchase from summit. I’m sure they are fine. Just make sure it’s version 8.6 R1. It will be on the box and flash the lights when you plug it in and start your vehicle.

If you want the latest version I would order it directly from Range.

They have a coupon code on the website. $189 free shipping.

BTW

I have had my Range for about 7500 miles now along with a Borla S Type catback exhaust.

No codes whatsoever.  A little over 1 mpg improvement.

Has anyone with a 2014 or newer Silverado used the Range device (AFM Disabler) long term, 1 year or longer? Any codes or issues during that time?

OK, I am ready to get flamed.

I bought one of these about 3 months ago.  I have a 2016 HC Crew Cab, 45K miles.  I drove with the Range on and off.  Around town I notice no difference at all in performance.  On a recent 500+ mile each way round trip to upstate NY 95% highway 70-75MPH, I got 21.2 MPG with Range OFF and 17.3 with Range installed, just a light load of luggage in truck.  These are actual MPG calculated, not the display although it was very close.  I believe it does what advertise because I watched the digital display.   Honestly, I cannot hear any difference in the exhaust.  I see no real reason to disable the AFM system based on these results.

No codes, no undesirable experiences on or off except reduced MPG.
