Mine stopped changing stations and acting erratically. The touchscreen doesn’t respond in certain places when I touch it.  I’ve been able to live with that. I’ve been planning to look into getting the screen fixed but haven’t yet

I was having problems similar to everyone else.  The screen would scroll through radio stations, mute phone calls and other wierd things.  I bought a used screen off of eBay. The second screen did the same as the first, not much was different.  It would do it every time, after driving for at least an hour.  I just bought this truck, used, 2017 2500.  I noticed from the day I bought it that the starter would drag a little when starting and the voltmeter on the dash only showed about 12 volts while running.  I checked the battery one night and found the ground cable was loose on the battery.  I tried to wiggle it and it came off with no effort.  After tightening it, the starter doesn't drag. It starts right up and is charging just under 14 volts.  After two days of driving it for work (400+ miles), the radio hasn't acted up. I'm calling it fixed.  Wish I'd done that before spending $160 on the screen.

So it's been 2500 miles since I did this. Three days ago the truck just died on me while I was driving around a jobsite. It started right back, but the starter seemed sluggish again.  Yesterday it died twice and the radio started acting up again.  Today I killed it at a drive through and it just clicked when I tried to restart.  A couple tries later, it restarted, but was very sluggish. When I got home, I pulled the ground cable and cleaned it. I took it loose at all three ends (frame ground, engine block and battery), wire brushed all surfaces and coated with dielectric grease.  After hooking everything back up and rechecking torques, it fired up faster than ever before, the radio works and the touch screen seems faster and more responsive, at least more so than it has been since yesterday.  I'm willing to bet I don't have any more issues with it randomly shutting off or sluggish starting.  CHECK THE GROUNDS FIRST!!

Mine has same issues, I have a video to show dealership but I hate switching between trucks while they throw darts at the wall and jerk me around...

I have a 2015 High Country with 46k miles and it has just started switching from digital speedometer to radio display on its own.  Is there a fix  that anyone knows of?   I'm going to check the ground wires  but Im not sure thats the problem

I'm having same issues and have noted that the problem does not seem as severe during humid, rainy weather.  In warm, low -humidity days it can be quite annoying and 'alarming'!  I have suspected that during 'dry' times static electricity may be building up in the unit and mimic a touch to the screen at random spots.

I will check the ground cable @ battery and wiring harness to unit if I get to it with medium effort.

Hopefully by now, there is a definitive answer!

Thankfully it's raining this week, AND no problems!

having issues on my 2015 now it is having a "Ghost" touch in the right upper portion of the screen.  So far I have recalibrated screen, reset the system to factory defaults and cleaned the touchscreen but it is still occurring.  I can deal with most of it but the part that is driving me nuts is that when I am using the phone it keeps placing the call on hold and the only way to resume the call is to do it from my phone's screen.

My 2015 Silverado where you can have the speed displayed keeps going from the speed to what is playing on the radio. When I'm in the middle of a phone call it mutes the call and the radio changes the channel by itself. I have disconnected the battery and left it disconnected for over an hour and the problem came back. Help

I've had the problem twice now.  Both times right after I had the interior detailed.  I think whatever they wipe the interior with gets on the screen and causes it to go nuts after a few minutes of being on.  Try some rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth to see if that gets any residue off the screen that may be causing that.  Good luck.

I've had the same problem.

Try putting your screen up, if you have that option. This will stop the devil from messing with your details.

I replaced the radio with another used one and that one has the issue of the radio volume knob on the face not working. However the steering wheel control does still work.

There are so many part numbers and only some cross over so I confirmed with the dealer before I bought the used unit.

I found this thread while looking for options to change my touch screen portion from this to the other radio to see if that is an option and if it would work. If anyone has done this successfully I'd love to know.

It is not the touch screen, That is always the 1st thing they try and it will not fix it, all it will do is cost you money for no help whatsoever, mine has been doing it also and I have ruled out the touch screen. It has something to do with the actual brain, blue tooth, and the wifi, but do not waste your money on doing the screen. I work on PC's all day every day including touch screens and this is not the problem. Besides I have seen others get told by gm mechanics it is the touch screen so they spend the bucks and it did NOT fix it.

My 2015 is having the same issue. I've been able to live with it by hitting the home button after I select the radio station and then more erratic behavior. Hoping for a perinate solution.

Im having same issue but also my driver info screen changes to audio on its own as well..is this also the digitizer?..if so then how do i fix it?..please.its driving me nuts

I have a 2017 Silverado 1500 LT with 53,000 miles and it seems like we are all having the same problem at approx 45,000 miles or so. I had mine into the GM Dealer twice for the same issue however, by this time it was jumping between my driver information center and the radio so finally my extended warranty replaced my touch screen and the radio unit. It worked great for 2 days and then it's right back to the something again so I called the dealer and they told me to bring it back and they did a hard reset (supposedly). It lasted 35 miles and it's right back to the something again. So I thought what the hell, maybe it's my iPhone USB cable so I changed it out and then my iPhone started do the something as my truck so I have now changed out my iPhone today. I am so done. My Truck radio screwed up my iPhone and I am still no closer to fixing this issue. So, I will now check to see if the digitizer could be it. I have already replaced everything I can think of, tighten all the ground cables, and taken to the GM Dealer with still the same issue. I have even checked for codes on my ODB II and FIXED and get none. OUT OF IDEAS and PATIENCE..

My 2014 Silverado 1500 started the radio display issues about last year. Was a Minor problem, now it’s pretty much all the time, changing menus, channels, scrolling station list, also the gauge info screen changes to radio display. Now I’ve had the Hvac display pop up a few times without touching the controls and tonight the drivers seat heater came on when I ran out real quick, It’s 75 degrees out and the switch was off.. I feel like the Body control module is the problem on these. Seeing as the problems are not just in the radio and it’s totally random and never the same.

2016 silverado 1500 with 74000 miles.  radio and touch screen has been going crazy for about 12 months now on and off.  ive tried everything including replacing the negative ground cable on the battery like some folks have said do. dealer has been no help at all. Chevy needs to come up with a fix. anybody know where the ground for the radio system is.

My 2017 Silverado 1500 has been doing roughly the same thing for the last three or four months I have took my truck to the dealer had the radio replaced along with the screen also had a hard restart done to the electrical system and I still have the same problem. Just took it to another Chevy dealer and they found that my shark fin was malfunctioning causing my GPS to not work with OnStar along with the fact my HMI unit needed an upgrade. The HMI unit had not been upgraded since the day it was put into the truck from 2016. So almost guarantee you need to have an HMI upgrade and maybe the Shark Fin replaced to fix your truck. Mine has now been working great for a week since I got my HMI update and the Shark Fin replaced.
