LTZ Chrome to LT Trim

Recommended Posts

Has anyone added the LTZ chrome trim (door handles, lines, etc) to an LT.  What is the best way to go about this?  Should I just take it into a shop and ask them to do it?  I also want to upgrade my wheels to the chrome 20"s.  Any recommendation on that?  Maybe ebay?

Most guys here go the opposite direction, myself included. I removed the chrome from my LTZ. You should have no problem finding someone willing to swap parts with you.

Thanks for the reply!  And interesting!  Just a styling preference?  I’ve got a black Silverado, could gonthe direction of black rims and black running boards instead.  I’ve just got all the chrome on the front.

Most of the LTZ chrome are simply caps that go over the black ones - check out GM parts for the chrome stuff.  I agree that most people go the other way and get rid of the chrome on the LTZ.

I got a 17 ltz and hate the chrome.. but I hate the painted bumper more because of stone chips. I feel like going halfway black isn't going to look right. I had a red Titan with color matched bumpers and it looked like hell after 3 years

Chrome and black go well together, imo.  My dealer offers a chrome package that includes door handles, mirror caps, tow hooks and step bars. Inquire at your local GM dealership and see what they charge for an exchange.

As others have said just watch the For Sale section on here.  The mirror caps, window beltline trim, and door handles are all interchangeable and there is usually somebody on there looking to sell or swap them.  The lower door rub rails will also fit but you will need to buy new 3M adhesive to put on them.  I changed out everything but the door rub rails on my 2015 LT without any problems.

For the wheels any Silverado/Sierra/Suburban/Yukon/Escalade wheels from 2014-up will fit.  They all have the same bolt pattern no matter if they are 17, 18, 20, or 22s.  I swapped out my 18" LT painted wheels for 20" chrome Denali wheels with no problems.

Thanks for the reply!  This is exactly what I'm looking for!

My '15 LT came with the additional 'chrome' package from the factory.  I must be the weirdo of the bunch, because the chrome caught my eye and was one of the reasons I bought that particular truck.  Never got into the whole monochromatic or blacked out look.  Just personal preference.  I like the (plastic) chrome.

Im a chrome guy. When i bought mine, it didnt have the rain guards and the window belt edges.  I wound up buying them at the dealer. Tinted the windows and added the 2018 LTZ taillights, and a leveling kitScreenshot_20180305-143433.thumb.jpg.a781560c7d0fc21e5089b9bd5b04d603.jpg too.  Looks so much better. IMO.

I had the front end of my midnight edition filmed with XPEL ultimate the day after I bought it. That was a year ago. It’s doing it’s job keeping the front end chip free

Nothing weird about liking chrome.  When I was young, chrome usually differentiated an economy trim level from a higher, more expensive level of automobile.  Now, it often is the opposite.  I personally like some chrome.  I don't care for the aftermarket tack on sheets of chrome on the lower body or outlining doors but basic factory chromed highlights look good, imo.

Yep, I had 3M coating put on my bumper last week after having the front bumper repainted.  It seems vehicles with painted plastic bumpers hold up much better than painted steel.  I am sure there is no give on steel when blasted with a rock.

I have a silver LT with a mix of chrome, and at first I was determined to change much of the chrome, but it has grown on me. I’m even contemplating leaving the chrome caps on when I do the DL3 mod from @pgamboa  .  I have a co worker with a 1yr Old Z71, and his front bumper has taken a bit of a beating to be honest. I think I agree that I’d put that 3m protector on if I had a z71.
