2006 Honda Rancher - 686 total miles on her. Amsoil Formula 4 stroke, and comically small K&N oil filter. Techron in the tank and cosmoline on the rusty bits underneath. Ready for another winter.IMG_3107.thumb.jpeg.8aa27d0b01f00a24303dd65523bae602.jpegIMG_3102.thumb.jpeg.86ffc360145600209b05d9592c6984d3.jpeg

This is another choice for protecting from rust.

Update on this 2025 Subaru AWD unit my caretaker drives. Shoutout to site sponsor @Black02Silverado NICK, who set me up to get discounted Amsoil. Setup our landowners association for all our CAT , JD, and JCB roads HD equipments. Saving them. The Crosstrek is exceeding average MPG by 22%.
HOW?
Inside first 6000 miles front and rear differentials changed to Amsoil 75w-85 signature series GL.

CVT 4 qts drained and refilled with Amsoil CVT.

Air filter and cabin filter changed @6000 miles.
This is a very rough and dusty dirt/rock road environment.

I did this with the 2022 TrailBoss L3B 4 turbo 4WD and saw similar improvements.

We are about to head to Indiana for 50th HS reunion. Will report HWY mpg increase or other.

Thanks Nick.

Red Line 0w40 & Fram XG filter out, sample sent to OAI. Red Line 5w30 Euro & Fram XG installed. About the last of the otherwise homeless oil I had stockpiled.

Here is mine on my 2022 Jeep Wrangler with the Ecodiesel. This oil change is with AMSOIL's DEO 5w-40 Signature Series, the previous one was with AMSOIL's European 5w-40 FS oil and before that was what ever the dealer put in before I purchased the Jeep. This sample was just shy of 5k. Ecoguard oil filter was used and put another one on. It seems to be the go to filter for those in the Ecodiesel world, at least on the Wrangler side and for the Gen 3 Ecodiesel.

Jeep Wrangler Ecodiesel

Total miles: 53693

Oil miles: 4580

Oil filter: Ecoguard

BP Diesel for the most part with Archoil, trying it to see if there is a difference between it and AMSOIL's Diesel Injector Clean with Cetane Boost.  So far I can't see a difference.

2024 Mitsubishi Mirage

5/7/2026

44,000 miles

4,038 mile OCI zero makeup oil

3 quarts Red Line HP Euro Series 5W40 + 2 Oz RL ZDDP.

Continue to use the AMSOIL EA15K13 filter.

I've done enough UOA's on this unit to know that 4K miles in the summer is fine but in the winter 3K is more than enough. Factory recommended 7.5K is unwarranted. Fluid condemned on TBN/color. Stellar wear metals and viscosity retention.

Factory 3,750 mile Severe Schedule is almost right.

2 quart spill and fill Red Line Non-Slip CVT fluid, 2,040 OCI.

8 oz Red Line SI-1 Fuel System cleaner. Top other fluids, pressure and safety checks.

2009 Silverado 1500 Z71 4x4 5.3L

113,162 miles, 5125 engine hrs.

Changed oil and oil filter with 6 qts Valvoline Restore & Protect 5W-30 and AC Delco Ultraguard UPF48R, replacing same oil and filter installed last September, approx 1600 miles ago.

This was the second fill with Valvoline R&R.

Drained oil was dirtier than usual for the mileage and actually had a few tiny sludge clots in it, and the oil filter felt heavier than new. Guess that's the VR&R doing its job.

This is a friends 2011 Fusion, She has 191k on it and this oil change was at 7,750 miles using AMSOIL's High Mileage 5w-30. It calls for 5w-20 but this is all I had at the time.  Looks like she can go 10k on the next change. It also had an EaO33 oil filter on it, which is no longer made but I found a bunch on eBay for $10 each shipped.  Her drive to and from work is 30 miles each way. A good bit of stop and go in places. She isn't using coolant that I know of but will keep an eye on it.

Just an observation. I started this non turbo 5.3 at 5 miles. I did an oil change at 597 miles. 0w20 to 5w30 at that time. Look at the sheet. Engine`s got 10,500 miles on it now. This is a typical Dexos 1 Gen3, group 3 base oil. SQ rating. Non boutique oil. BUT, good oil? Valvoilne Advanced, 5w30. One can see, this thing has had oil changes at 3000`ish miles. Look at TBN and vis.  Sheered out on 1 change. 2.5 TBN on last report.

Let this be a lesson on long oci  and "spec" oils. This oil is not tough. Who has a shelf oil that is better? I put Valvoline XP in it this time. We`ll see on TBN and sheer.

Boutique oil`s should not be laughed at. And, screw the owner`s manual.
