Has anyone messed with the flappers at all? I’m just doing a muffler swap this week but I’m absolutely lost when it comes to the flappers. I want as much noise as I can get without droning at highway speed or too much noise at cruise. I got a Magnaflow 11229 muffler. Question is, do I cut both flappers off or only one? If one, which one? I’m thinking the upstream flapper will kill more drone than the downstream. I read on another post that both flappers removes makes too much drone

Cut it off!!

That’s not a flapper in that picture, it’s the resonator for the 5.3L V8. Moreover, if you’re going with this muffler (magnaflow 11229) on the 6.2L V8, do NOT cut off both flappers unless you want to drive yourself batshit having a helicopter flying under your truck at any speed over 35...

Check out the following part numbers.  Borla offers all their tip options with the dual system.

PNs 140778, 140779BC, 140779CF, 140785

I’m looking at the true dual systems too but can’t find any sound clips so or comments regarding sound with DFM so am a bit hestitant.

Buy the Diablosport tuner and disable the DFM. Problem solved.

The Diablo sport (and all other tuners currently on the market) does not work on the new body style Silverados. It only works on the LD/Legacy edition.

Go check the DiabloSport website... I confirmed with customer service last week that the tuners only works correctly on the 2019 LD. Yes, it can disable AFM on the new 5.3 technically, but it cannot disable DFM on the 6.2. AFM and DFM work entirely differently

I’m telling you it does not tune the 2019 new body style 6.2L. So is Diablo Sport as of last Tuesday. Just because Summit racing says it will work does not mean that’s correct. Diablo Sport initially announced that it would work on the new bodies back in 2018, but it didn’t, so Diablo Sport removed it from their own site under the 2019 Silverados other than the LD. Many 3rd party websites never updated their listings. Go ahead and spend your money on it if you want, but don’t get upset when it doesn’t work.  The only tuner currently available is from HP Tuners and you have to replace the entire ECM, costs about $3000 minimum.

Nothing sounds like a borla!!  It's the best. Hands down.

I must agree. For the T-1 platform. I had Corsa on my 04 Pro Sport Sierra. It was awesome. I put the same Corsa system on my 12 Sierra 5.3 SLT and it was much quieter, so much so that I called Corsa. I was informed due to AFM the system muffler design was different, necessitating a much more subdued tone.

The Borla system, even though I went with S type, is much more pronounced. It has a deep, throaty growl that sounds fantastic. Very happy with it!

Wanted to share, as I had a hard time finding comparisons for the new 2019/2020 Silverados.  I was going back and fourth between touring and s-type, leaning more towards the touring, until I listened to the videos in my truck, with its sound system.  Computer speakers and cell phone speakers just don't do it justice.... need to get those bass tones.  Super glad I went with the s-type, it's loudest at a could start, low/soft growl with driving in lower gears around town/in neighborhood, at highway speeds you can't really tell it's there, until you press on the gas to accelerate or pass someone.  I'm in my late 30's and didn't want to go all high school on the exhaust, but super happy I went with the s-type the deep tones are nice and rich, and should really mellow out over time, and it's not obnoxiously loud.  And absolutely zero drone at highway speeds.

What part of Houston are you in? I'd like to hear the S Type in person (if youre cool with that)

Ive driven the Touring (GMPP on an AT4). Trying to see if the S is "too loud"
