Winter Tire Setups

If you want a no compromise snow performance tire - go dedicated winter, not all season. All respect to the KO2's and Duratrac's of the world, but they are all a compromise. I currently run a LT275/65R20 General Grabber Arctic LT in the winter and Michelin Defender LTX in the spring/summer/fall. Pleased with the performance. If I was buying another set today for my 3500HD, I'd be ordering a set of the new Bridgestone Blizzak LT's. Check them out!

Can't emphasize enough the difference a true winter tire makes...

I've been running a set of Hankook Dynapro ATMs on mine for the last few winters now. They seem to be popular around here, and when I was tire shopping they were always highly reviewed (top 10 or better). They are a winter-rated all season (mountain and snowflake symbol on the tire). I was torn between the GY Duratrac and the Cooper Discoverers, but I couldn't pass up the deal on these. I found them on closeout for $550 shipped to my house. They are 265/75r17 load range E.

Edit: whoops, just realized this was for newer HDs. Oh well, underneath the sheet metal, everything is the same.

i run Nitto Ridge Grapplers, but I've also run Toyo AT2's and both are great

I run the Mastercraft courser MSR dedicated snow tire for plowing. Excellent snow tire!

I ran these on my last truck and loved them. Great tire

I will be running Duratracs on my 2500HD this winter and its the first time I havnt had a dedicated snow. If I dont like them, I will be buying some MSRs and putting them on rims.

Its hard to beat proper winter tires.

Here in Florida, I run the same tire year round.

I do do have a set of 18” steelies laying around in the shop, if someone wants them....

North east Alberta and I have never had dedicated winter tires on any of my trucks. I have had a few Duratracs, BF KO2's, Toyo Open Country C/Ts and whatnot and on ice they all suck. Oddly my Toyo Open Country AT2 Extremes on my 17 perform better than all of those others and don't have the little winter snowflake lol. I am dumping the C/Ts on my other truck next and buying another set of the A/T 2 extremes.
