2020AT4 Posted August 3, 2020 Posted August 3, 2020 Happened to me a few times within the first month of owning my AT4. I'd have no radio, nav, anything. Dealership replaced the entire module, trying to get SXM to switch my lifetime subscription over to the new radio was the worst part of the whole process. Even after it getting it replaced it still happens once in awhile. Seems to go back to working when I push the physical home button below the display (not the touch screen one, but the one that is to the right of the volume knob.)
Pastor Kevin Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 (edited) Mine is in the shop now for the second time for this issue. Dealership tries to act like they haven’t heard of it and that they can’t fix it if they can’t reproduce the issue. I don’t have a good feeling about this. Update- just picked up my truck. GM wants me to drive the truck without hooking anything up to it for twice as long. I’m a pastor and I’m dependent on my apple car play with hands free text and talk. I feel like this is a bad dream. Mikedfw Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 Doesn't seem like they have any idea why this is really happening. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk I agree. It is very frustrating. GM wants me to drive mine without my apple car play engaged. Like saying I need to break the law since I can’t be hands free. Should it they know what they are doing when they build these?
AlohaDan Posted August 24, 2020 Posted August 24, 2020 I. have been doing some searching online to see if this problem is documented anywhere else. I found this YouTube video showing that the problem exists in the GMC Sierra as well...
Jimmyb85 Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 I have a 2020 Chevy 3500 it’s a diesel the issue I am having is the radio will freeze for 5 to 8 second then the screen will go black for about 20 seconds then the radio will kick on and it will say searching and after about 15 seconds it will link back up with my phone it does this multiple times a week took it to the dealership first time all they did was reset radio it did not resolve the issue the dealership is about 45 minuets from my house it did it twice on the way home I called the dealer ship for 16 days to set up another appointment I ultimately had to drive back down and make a scene to get the owner of the dealership involved since the service department refused to talk to me at which point I scheduled a second appoint to resolve the issue they updated the soft ware this did not resolve the issue at the time I am writing this my truck has been at the dealership 9 days and they are waiting for an answer on what to do about this issue dues to this being my third time to dealer they do not want to return it right away due to the fact that if and when it has the issue again and I make a forth appointment and they work on it again. At which time I can start the procedure for lemon law in the state of Delaware has anyone had this issue if so please let me know and if you have had any luck getting this issue resolved
James411 Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado and have had radio issues from about a month after i pulled off the lot in late November 2019. The radio will only display half the screen or will turn off on it's own. I am taking it back to the dealership yet again to see if they can figure out what is wrong. They have replaced the radio and wiring and still happening. The truck also shifts very hard into lower gears. James
Brian Barbieri Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Just had mine do it this morning. Chevy 1500 lt short bed. Sitting in line at the service center now.
2nazt Posted September 26, 2020 Posted September 26, 2020 Mine does this all the time also. I have taken it once for and they did a software update. Since then it happens more frequently and CarPlay is almost useless now 1

Updates won't help ... there is a box behind the back seat that needs to be changed. Have your dealer contact mine in Riverhead NY. Buick/GMC of Riverhead..... the tech's name is Kyle.. It took over 7 visits for them to finally get it diagnosed and fixed. Edited September 26, 2020 by Yoda2 1

scooterhst Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 A good news story! Had the reboot issue while 20 minutes from dealership. Of course 3 miles from the dealership the 15th reboot attempt worked. Pulled into the dealership and did not shut off the truck. Technician was able to read the error code which then enabled dealer to order a new radio from GM. New radio has been installed for over a month and so far it seems to have solved the problem. Not sure how long error codes for the radio stay active but my advice is to not turn off the truck if possible until dealer can read it.

AlohaDan Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 (edited) Fixed??? (Maybe) So, after multiple times in and out of the shop.... they did a global reset on the system, they replaced the USB port, etc. This last time they replaced the "serial data gateway module" and fixed some terminal that had a bad connection. So far, after a month it seems to have fixed the issue (fingers crossed). I'm posting the invoice so that others might be able to learn something from it. I'll update if I get a blank screen again... I have a long road trip coming up so that should be a good opportunity to test it thoroughly. UPDATE: Well, unfortunately have to report that after 5 weeks of hoping that all is good, I had another incident of the screen going blank again. I'm not driving much these days because I'm working from home due to COVID, otherwise it might have happened sooner. It was just a very brief outage. Screen went black for maybe 10-15 seconds and then came back on. It happened while I was in a turn lane and when it happened I noticed a slight hiccup in the rhythm of the clicking sound from the turn signal at the moment it went blank, which leads me to believe that it might be related to a larger electrical issue (although I have no automotive electrical experience.. just guessing). I have just under 10K miles on the truck now. Edited October 9, 2020 by AlohaDan fix pic 1 1
