Is it supposed to beep in reverse?

Is it supposed to beep when you’re in reverse and get close to an object? Mine doesn’t and I can’t find a setting for it anywhere...

I’ve got the SLT Premium package so I guess I just assumed I did, but apparently not?

Look for the little round sensors mounted flush on your rear bumper.  If your bumper is blank, then no sensors.  Your rear camera will partially compensate but it is nice to have both!  I've been kicking tires at my local GM dealer and am surprised at the number of SLT's and LTZ's without rear sensors.  My next truck will have them front and rear!

Premium gets rear, not front.  You need Premium Plus or Enhanced Alert package to get the Safety Seat Alert.  So my seats vibrates instead of beeping.  There might be a beeping option but I have no interest in turning it on as the vibrating seat is more than enough.

Not always. I have the SLT Premium and no sensors. 

 

F'in dealership lied to me as it was supposed to have all that stuff.

You are right.  Rear is only with the All Terrain package; front/rear is is Premium Plus, All Terrain Premium Plus or the Enhanced Driver Alert package.

 

A buyer should always confirm all options as you can't trust a damn thing a dealership says unless it is in writing.  

 

This is partly why I would only consider a Premium Plus.  I found a bunch of dealers trying to make the truck Premium-Plus like by optioning bucket seats and the trailer brake controller, but you miss out on the other stuff.

I did have it in writing (text) from the sales guy and the manager didn't give two chits about it. 

 

I'll NEVER let that happen again, still upset over it.  But it does have trailer brake controller, which was the most important option I was looking for.

I traded in my 2015 SLT with drivers assist and driver alert package for a  2018 SLT premium that has front and rear sensors. My guess is it’s the build or however they felt at the factory that day. I do not miss the alert package as that thing drove me crazy and had false positives. Guess I’ll kick it old school and pay attention to the road ~ not a cut against those who have the alert package just personal preference.

You simply have the preferred package and not a package that has the Safety Alert seat, like Premium Plus or Enhanced Alert.  I don't mind the Enhanced Alert but isn't necessary.  I'd trade it for push button start, radar cruise or blind spot detection - all things that were unavailable but I would have paid extra for if they were.

The bumper ultrasonic sensors do cause some problems. I ran across a sale at my local TSC store last night I bought this cool #10,000 lb Hook and Shackle hitch  (Jeff Foxworthy says you might be a RedNeck, if you run a Hook and Shackle Hitch Hahahaha) I had to drill an additional 5/8" hole through the 2" x 2" solid steel drawbar to move it in about 2 1/2 to 3"  so that the sensors would not "SEE" it and beep all the time. Right now the hitch is on my 2009 TaHO to test and it, works on it also without upsetting the bumper sensors. Hook and Shackle looks better than the Bull Nuts right?  YeeHaw
